Seattle split with SF, Denver would have as well.

Carolina would have been a great win had it not been the first week of the season where the Panthers weren't playing well. That's kind of like saying Denver's win by 30 over the Eagles was impressive, but it really wasn't because Philly wasn't playing that great at the time.

So yeah 5-1 sounds impressive, but when you break it down some of that lustre is rubbed off. Denver gets dinged for playing and blowing out a bunch of bad teams, but it's not like they made their own schedule. Give Denver Seattle's schedule and they probably go 13-3 as well with the same splits.

Denver had the same record against like opponents (HOU/JAX/IND/TEN), both went 3-1, Seattle was +32 including two near misses to TEN/HOU while Denver was +55 and blew those two out.

So yeah I understand Denver played an easier schedule, but I think dinging them for crushing weak opponents is a mistake, especially when Seattle's schedule against "great" teams was quite favorable both in location and timing.
The Saints are still a tough team on the road. They aren't nearly as good as they are in the Dome, but they blew wins late at NE and CAR ... teams that were a combined 15-1 at home. CAR's D makes them a tough out for anyone on the road, early or not.

5-1 vs. that crew is really impressive to me, especially considering 2 were blowouts and the playoff NOLA they controlled. The NFC West also dominated outside of their division; even the Rams had a respectable mark.

This doesn't disqualify Denver by any means, but Seattle's schedule has been pretty brutal.

Good luck all. Good thread. For the most part good fans for both teams. Best two teams in the league. This is what it should always be.

I'm sorry for those other teams whose owners only have one submarine on their yacht and couldn't afford to build an awesome noise enhancing stadium. Maybe one day you'll get on our level.

SF fans complaining about Seattle not being that good are funny since Seattle being #1 is the argument for SF being #2.

Reffing will be huge when DEN is on offense. Who gets away with their usual cheating could be outcome determinative.

Most overrated? Please stfu, they were a few inches from the SB after making three NFC title games in a row. How they could possibly be overrated makes you sound stupid.
