This should be an awesome tournament, especially since MMA tournaments arent very popular anymore with PRIDE gone. Just wanted to spread the word in case some of the more casual mma fans had no idea this was coming up. Fedor is my favorite fighter in the sport by a long shot, I really think he'll plow through this tourney even though he might be a little past his prime in my opinion. Even if he loses, he still has nothing more to prove to anyone. And all of the other fights look like they can go either way. I cant wait!!!

Just some random betting odds (William Hill so UK odds style). They have it virtually neck and neck with Fedor and Overeem with a big jump to the others.

I think Ubereem takes it.

He hasn't yet beaten anyone to prove it, but I think he probably takes anybody in the sport other than Cain, who might be a slight favorite over him.

really hope nothing fluky happens so we get overeem/fedor which is what they should have ****ing done in the first place. tournaments sound cool but really they just **** everything up.

Anyway, tournaments are awesome, UFC/SF could benefit a lot from adapting more PRIDE formats and rules

Because Strikeforce will probably be bankrupt by the Finals. And it is better this way. It makes Fedor/Overeem more likely to happen.

answer to all this is obv

you want overeem and fedor to headline the first round PPVs separately to get #s
you want to still maximize their chances of fighting by having them fight in round 2

and it's not like the other side is full of scrubs

You don't think this tournament is good for business?

You think a standalone Fedor/Overeem fight is better business than a tournament likely meeting them in round 2, then the winner getting to fight overeem again?
