if these arguments you get into are 'irrelevant', and i agree they are, it feels like work to go through a 5 paragraph post. get to the point, or don't bother.

I know. I have read the references regarding the inside joke. I assume it must be a gut-buster.

As for the WAR debate, I was told that WAR bakes in certain intangibles. I wasn't told which ones. I figured the Darrell Evans example was pretty good since that is a genuine asset which may not be easily quantified.

In general, are there attributes like this that do not get "baked in" by WAR? (otherwise, what it is good for? ... )

There are multiple points being made. I challenge you to edit one of these offending posts down and provide the same content.

It is all gold my friend. All of it. My fingers **** gold bricks all day long.

Triumph: I assume you are referring to the "Baked in" question? I have always given it credence. I don't refute it at all. I was just asking about certain things that may or may not be "baked in." I am not picking apart your metaphorical language, I am adopting it in agreement.

You guys are way too defensive, jesus.

I mean, effin' A, I have never crossed you or said a bad thing about you ever. Why? because you have never "come at me bro" but have been pretty cool. Why do you think I am attacking you? That is not my thing. I only fight back.

I get posters coming out of the woodwork all the time trying to take potshots, most of then I ignore. One of the small players I didn't ignore was Phildo, but that has been a very providential move for me overall. I am glad I did it.

personally i find it great that we have a big shot lawyer who loves to argue on 2p2 that everyone hates much as i enjoy a mid-20's guy with two kids in an unwed relationship supporting his family on a deteriorating online poker industry slinging insults at everyone else

Maybe you cooked the books to make Steve Sax fall out of the top 5. Wouldn't put it past you.

I have the equivalent of 38,000 posts, probably more if you there was a text to post ratio to determine it.

Dude what is your problem? I actually know someone who is good friends with you irl and he said you were a good dude, yet you act like the biggest toolbox to people you don't know at all on a forum. I am inclined to believe this person too, which makes your behavior here so bizarre and frankly embarrassing, but good job winning online arguments!

Oski, I don't know who Darrell Evans is but it appears he was a 3b/1b so I don't know why you're bringing up arms/holding runners. I'm guessing you meant Dwight Evans, in which case bbref war probably isn't taking into account arms. It's not that big a deal though because the spread between the best/worst is something like +/- 5 runs a year once you regress. So feel free to add a few wins to Evans war if he had a really good arm, I don't know anything about him.

I have a lot of issues with how war and the fielding stats are used in small samples by pretty much everyone (the offensive components are mostly fine), but the methodology/implementation of the arms stat seems pretty solid to me.
