Also some rumors that Barca wants some sort of "if he bites someone again you pay us X" clause. Heh.

Barca will have to pay what Liverpool want. I don't see this being a fabregas / arsenal situation. If they aren't willing to pay they aren't getting him.

Hope Henry flies over to london just so he can sit across from the barca reps, light up a fat cigar and tell them to go **** themselves.

I don't get it.

Suarez didn't snub you, you offered a laughable sum. Situation remains pretty similar- he's not going anywhere without a gigantic offer.

Bidding the buyout clause is a "laughable sum." Lol Pool fans.

The point is more that he wants to leave, more then whatever actual sum is required to get that done.

really really hope sanchez is unwilling to join pool
alexis is a steal for 25-30mil in the current environment(he is still only 25 years old)

That's still my hope too (not selling I mean). The suspension is irritating, but it was always going to be a risk with him. We can deal with it, get over it, and watch him rake just like we did last year.

If ownership DOES decide they're going to sell, I just hope they figure out a way to ensure that we get an influx of world-class talent in return. Maybe that's Sanchez, maybe it's just not selling until we secure other signings. But I really don't want £80M with three weeks to try to spend it in exchange for Suarez.

Well, FSG did laugh in your face.

How would you characterize it, smart ass?

barcafans what is the transfer plans if you get Suarez for say £70m? you need defensive reinforcements badly does that not take a huge chunk out of the funds or should we expect you to be spending considerably more than usual with the impending ban?

PHNN mentioned it before and I agree that us and Barca could end up going after the same CB options like Benatia/Mangala etc and would like us to prioritise that position next whilst Barca are still dealing with this Suarez business.

I agree. I still don't understand why Barca is willing to discuss him (while not even bothering to deny it very hard). I'll believe he's moving when I see it, and not a moment before.

Agree on him being a steal. If they value him at that I would not mind asking them about a Reus/Sanchez+X swap if we think Reus will leave for sure next season (which I don't think is likely anymore)

I think Arsenal needs to upgrade at striker and 25 million is actually a good deal. Feel free to list (available) strikers in the same price range that would improve the team more.

Or is it more a matter of "need to spend elsewhere, Giroud is good enough, no striker upgrade at all"?
If we could get someone who can create special moments by themselves and has pace, I would like to upgrade. If we can't get such a player, I'm fine rolling with a Sanchez type/Campbell/Walcott as backups.

Don't see why Sanchez would play for Liverpool when he can pick Juventus, United or Arsenal instead and he probably would stay at Barcelona. I bet Barcelona would want to offer something like 65 mil euro tops, Liverpool will lolreject that and then PerezGOAT will have a meeting with some people in England, when we'll play the Supercup in Cardiff. Suarez is announced as a Real Madrid player on the 25th of August, 86 mil euro. Barcelona would have bought by then 2 GKs, Rakitic, Rafinha, Mathieu, Cuadrado, Alexis stays. You heard it here first.

I'd imagine the release clause in Suarez' new contract is more conventionally worded and water tight from his perspective than the previous one, can't see him or his agent making that mistake twice.

Most reports say it's £80m. The negotiations with Barcelona seem to be based on them not being willing/able to just stump up the whole amount so they're trying to lump a player in.

There's not much to go on but from the little there is, suggestions are he doesn't want to join Liverpool. Liverpool become much less attractive as a package once you know Suarez is heading out the door.

I'd take him in a flash as a winger/2nd striker combo.

Benatia to City rumours are getting stronger and stronger. Even talk that it's done pending Roma finding a replacement which could be Nastasic.

I could see Sanchez refusing to move to a Suarez-less Liverpool. It's unclear how good we will be without him, not to mention that we're not the most multi-cultural team especially if he leaves. I'm concerned that this rumored Suarez move could hurt our transfer business in general- gotta feel like we were a lot more appealing to guys like Shaqiri when it looked like we'd have Luis.

The one thing in our favor is that I don't think Barca will move Sanchez without securing Suarez. They already lost Thiago. If they move Alexis and whiff on Suarez they're suddenly Neymar + an aging Spanish NT and no CBs. Not what they want at all. So we could all find ourselves in a quagmire where Sanchez says no Pool, we say no Sanchez-to-Arsenal please if you want Luis, and Barca is kinda stuck. Maybe Sanche goes to Juve then, I don't know.

But as a stated before, I REALLY hope FSG is able to avoid the position Spurs found themselves in, where we just moved our main draw and find ourselves with a bucketful of cash, no major stars willing to come here, and all the other sellers looking to extort us.

I actually think Spurs did pretty well all things considered, despite how their season unfolded. They added what we all thought were pretty talented players (and perhaps still are).

The only player in the same tier as Sanchez currently is that we've brought in the last 20 odd years is Torres. It just doesn't happen often and we have been in better positions in the past to bring them in. With the number of oil clubs around now we can forget it. That's why when you luck box a top 5 player in the world you shouldn't sell him.

None of this matters if there's a release clause of which i'm pretty sure there is as if there wasn't I think Liverpool would just adopt a simple "going nowhere" stance when they have him on a 5 year? contract.

If Liverpool want Sanchez + £50m in lieu of the £80m release clause but Sanchez isn't willing to join Liverpool, Barcelona can just sell him to whoever for £30m and then pay the full amount of the clause instead.

Selling Nastasic doesn't seem like a great idea when Kompany spends 1-2 months out every season and they've already lost Lescott. He's kind of gone backwards this season but I think he's a quality CB although I wouldn't be surprised if City want someone whose more of the finished article rather than develop him. Hopefully they don't get Benatia but Soriano and Txiki Begiristain seem to know what they're doing so I wouldn't be surprised.

I agree. Nastasic seems like a standard 3rd CB for a club with City's means.
