as for the Carragher thing, well that's just my opinion. (still lol at you knowing for sure he really tried to break the leg)

if Modric goes for £22m that would be wrong.

Thread has been lacking some LOL Liverpool so here is some, I knew the English Messi was on big wages, i'd never have dreamed Jovanovic was on more than him

Quote:
LIVERPOOL face paying £30MILLION in wages on their unwanted stars next year if they fail to shift them.

That means the Mersey misfits pocketing the same as the yearly payments on the club's debt in the dark days of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Kop flops like Milan Jovanovic and Joe Cole alone trousered around £12m between them in a disastrous debut season at Anfield.

The Reds are keen to offload a dozen players who have no chance of action in Kenny Dalglish's Anfield revolution.

Yet with many sitting on sky-high contracts signed under the old regime, moving them on is proving a huge headache. And that has left Kop bosses staring at the prospect of forking out £600,000 a week plus on what is effectively deadwood.

Top earner amongst those unwanted men is Serb Jovanovic, pocketing half a million each month under the terms of his free transfer arrival from Standard Liege.

Midfielder Cole is not far behind, on £110,000 a week, yet neither man went close to holding down a regular place.

Jovanovic made just five league starts last season, costing the Reds £1.2m a game.

Christian Poulsen arrived from Juventus touted as one of the great contemporary Danish stars, yet kicked off only nine times in the league - around £300,000 a match.

The problems hit Liverpool full in the face a week ago when Anderlecht and Bruges - both keen on Jovanovic - did a swift U-turn on learning the size of his wage packet.

And if relegation did not shatter any hopes West Ham had of taking Cole back to Upton Park, the size of his salary certainly did.

If that is not bad enough, Liverpool's training ground will be flooded with returning loan "stars" next month, if they fail to find takers.

Italian Alberto Aquilani spent last season at Juventus but neither they or Milan will pay the asking price for a man who cost £20m two years ago.

Aquilani featured twice for Liverpool before being packed off to Turin and his nine league starts have cost nearly half a million each. Paul Konchesky made 15 league starts but lasted just six months before he was loaned to Nottingham Forest.

Others returning are Moroccan Nabil El Zhar, who was at PAOK Salonika last term, and Swiss full back Philipp Degen, who was with Stuttgart.

It is a harsh reality check for fans convinced King Kenny will be leading them to a serious title challenge next season.

American owners the Fenway Sports Group have so far been true to their word and backed Dalglish's plans with hard cash - as in the £20m they paid for Jordan Henderson.

Others set to follow are Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Connor Wickham and Gael Clichy.

But one thing is for certain, any return to the glory days under Dalglish will not be on the cheap.

I like the article, mainly for the use of the verb "to trouser", which is one of my favourites.

Seems like this is doing the rounds so might have some legs.

#THFC reject a bid of £21.5m for Luka Modric from #CFC. Chelsea prepared to go to £25m and possibly more. #MUFC will compete.

I'd like Modric but there's a limit to what i'd pay for him. His lack of goals is what limit's the fee for me.

Winston Bogarde, that's all i'm saying. (eh and Mutu, Crespo, Veron, Sheva and lots more i can't remember - Chelsea lost big time money on all these, same thing happens at loads of clubs after new manager or owners installed)

City last season is a good example of this.

i'd pay money not to see Aquliani back at Anfield. (dud)

You have a £50m man there to get you 35+ goals a year so surely you can cut Modric some slack.

the amount of assists he'd get and opportunities created would more than make up for him not scoring. i'd have zero problem with united paying 30-32m for him

Contrary to statements, #THFC will sell Modric for £30m+. Depends on whether valuation met/exceeded.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have him because of it, i'm just saying it would limit what i'd ideally like to pay for him.

Being proven in the premiership is a pretty big factor but if the fee is going in the £35m direction i'd rather go and get Mata who is three years younger and reaily available for almost half that price.

He has a pretty decent hit-rate (all things considered) regards to Chelsea down the years.

I'm not saying you should care, I couldn't give a flying **** whether you care or not really

edit just for TSC

Modric wants CL football next season and if need be will ask for transfer. He knows of #CFC and #MUFC interest. Cant see how #THFC keep him

Modric is £25m minimum

I'd value you him at £30-35m

Think I read his buy out is £40m

At least Spurs can use the Modric fee to pay Joe Cole's wages as his replacement.

I remember NESV told the fans that Liverpool needed at least 3 years to get back on track because we were going to have to spend a ****load of money on wages and bad deals.

If Sanchez goes to Man utd im going to have to root against him, which is a pity, but I already rooted against him when he played in Chile and wouldnt have a problem in doing so again.

I also refuse to root for Bayern Munich so Vidal could go into that list as well.

A quick point on the situation in Paris.

As you might know, the PSG has recently been bought by the Qatar sovereing wealth fund, and it appear that they are ready to flash some petrodollars Man City style. So far, they have chosen to keep the director and the coach who had been doing a good rebuilding job in the last two years, but they have apparently lured Leonardo away from Inter to be a new general manager, which is a good indication that they are really willing to take it to the next level. So currently the rumor mill is going crazy, and people are awaiting some big names for the next season.

Current situation
PSG finished fourth and will be playing the Europa league next year.

Key players
Sakho-Chantome-Nene

New signings so Far

Douchez: average Ligue 1 keeper-GK was a big need after a terrible season of Coupet and Edel that cost the club the CL. Douchez was free.
Gameiro: Should be a solution to the goal scoring struggles of the club this year.
Needs:
Priorities: A DM and a RW to replace Makelele and Giuly
More depth is also needed and of course any improvment is welcome, especially in defense (LB, CB)

Rumors:
DM:Matuidi/ Mvilla/Fernando(Porto)
CB:Bisevac/Marko Basa/Varanne
LB: Clichy
RW:Payet/Menez/Park(Monaco)
Big names rumors
the big idea is that Leonardo should use his prestige and connections to attract some Brazilian talents, and a lot of names are coming up even Neymar or Kaka. At the time the more realistic options seem to be Lucas(Sao Paulo) and Ganso.

A lot of this is probably bull****, but in any case, it should be an existing summer in Paris!
