We have been fighting for top six nearly every year since it came about and have got to Europe past three seasons.

May bot sound like much to you guys but that's what footballs about to me, not expecting to go to Braga and win
I will spare you the details but obviously you thinking I should support my local semi professional teams springs from ignorance. It is not a possiblity anymore than me supporting Rangers.

No one expected to go to Braga and win are you serious here or is this some sort of level? We didn't expect to be more or less out. As for our home record being when we had money, our squad was assembled for very little. Certainly less than the giants of Juve, Milan, Barcelona, Man Utd etc whom we beat over the years.

Different people come from different backgrounds. The privilged few who live within a stones throw of a top flight side think they are special fans and everyone else is a glory hunter or plastic fan or whatever else you might call it. Its just pure ignorance and egotism. Taking pride in your little team is fair enough but acting smug and superior over people who support a team with whom they have a much stronger connection than mere postcode is laughable.

Ok **** religion when it comes to football (main reason I hate the old firm) but I'm sure theres a catholic team nearer than Celtic...having your main team outwith your own country = headasplode. Don't want a religion/football debate though

I already corrected myself and said over both legs, I'm sure no Celtic fan would have predicted the tie to be over already. You did have more money in terms of wages, to that there's no argument. Look at Balde and his 40k a week ffs. You cant afford the big names anymore

Why do you have to support a top flight side?
Your last sentence is why I hate Old Firm fans
Anyway...I hope you'll all be cheering on Motherwell tomorrow...get our coefficent up

Its funny that you basically think people should support whoever they happen to be born next to even if they represent everything you disagree with. Basically like some sort of ****ing cult. Just brainwashed. Thats not some sort of deeper connection to a team. Its the complete opposite. Mere coincidence by postcode. A bit like religion which you seem to think should be kept out of football. Indoctrinated from birth by coincidence of place of birth with no choice on the matter is how you'd like it yea?

I am an atheist. Why would I want a 'catholic' team to support? You aren't getting this at all are you? You have a full time professional league in your country, easy to act superior to an island who's leagues aren't even full time players. A country where football isn't even the number one sport.

The SPL and Premier League are were all the Irish players are, its where all our ties are, its where all the football is played, its where our heroes played, its where the history is, its what we see on television and its what the media talk about. Sorry the affiliates of the bigots in the IFA aren't getting my support anytime soon so you can continue to disapprove. I don't give a ****.

I'm sure you weren't aware of the politics surrounding the IFA when you were a wee lad. Oh and btw Motherwell weren't the closest team to where I was born...in fact it was Celtic

How much about Scottish football do you even know? Your team is Celtic from the SPL but I bet you know more about the premiership. Most Celtic fans only pay proper attention to Europe/Rangers and the end of the season. Even I know Celtic fans who'd rather watch Man Utd v Arsenal than Celtic v East Fife in the cup...I'm sure it's the same to many in this thread

Given I also support Man Utd do you really have to ask that? I know plenty about Scottish football. We don't get many games on though in England. When I lived in Glasgow it was a lot different. I mainly have to use the internet to keep abreast of things a lot more and watch games streaming which I never do for Man U. I at least see the goals of every game we play, try to watch all the televised games and the highlights I get online.

More like unofficial Celtic thread

Anyway HUGE match for Motherwell tonight against Alesund of Norway in Europa league 1st leg. If we get through we'll be looking at a glamour tie with possiblity of teams such as Liverpool/Juve

I fear the worst, they've already played 15 odd games of their season and sit in 4th, I doubt the league is any worse than the SPL. We've had two competitive matches so far in the last round against an Icelandic team who were also half way through their season (and top of league) but it was obvious to anyone watching we weren't match sharp. Managed to scrape a 1-0 win in both legs but this team will be much better

They have the tallest outfield player in Europe at 6'9 upfront! But I'm sure if Stevie Craigan can keep Rooney and Torres in his back pocket this will be nothing

I'd be happy with a 2-1 loss but over the moon with a score draw

MON THE WELL

Actually I might start a real A-league thread. There's you, me and DemonOfTheFall, is that enough to sustain a thread?

I expect Adelaide to do MUCH better this season. The emergence of Leckie and the addition of Van Dijk and especially Flores have made them a much stronger team imo.

Not nearly enough, just spam here or in the La Liga thread imo - like me and BIM did, and this year there's Eredivisie in the title

the fact the afl thread died with about 8 people gives me little hope for the three of us sustaining an a-league thread. unless we pick up 20 heart fans.

Havent seen the odds, but if you want a friendly bet perth vs adelaide this year then im more then game and will escrow if necessary...

I would still be taking the worst of it with that bet. Get back to me on the weeks where Perth and Adelaide play each other and I can add spice to the game, trash talk you when Leckie scores in the 4th minute, etc.

btw I'm about to clue everyone in to my super secret A-League betting system:

Spoiler:
Lay the faves. The skill level is not there for either team to really boss the midfield consistently, and as a result possession is often close to 50/50.

Advanced version:

Spoiler:
Consider maybe not laying faves (depending on odds) if said faves are Sydney FC or Melbourne Victory.

Ah I forgot you have Fowler now. Poor bastard, comes to Australia and the only bits of it he gets to see are Townsville and Perth...

I'd love to say "no offence meant to Perth" but we both know that isn't true.

Marlon King released from jail today after serving 9 months of the original 18 month sentence. 13 previous convictions, how is he not made serve the full term?

I know next to nothing about law, criminal convictions etc....but this seems like a joke

clyro i think you have some issues that you need to address if you think religion has anything at all to do with me or most other peoples support for Celtic.

like Raz said there is no god in my heart.

i think you are a closet bigot, maybe you should just be more direct with your insults in future.

btw hope you get that glamour (lo****ingl) tie you are hoping for, shows the difference in our aspirations for our clubs.

motherwell=mediocrity for life.

I think your posts make you sound more of a bigot than mine....you've obviously never been to the east end of Glasgow if you think religion has nothing to do with the Old Firm.

away **** yourself
