David Roth @david_j_roth

Republicans asking to exempt the largest and most profitable companies on earth from providing paid sick leave during a pandemic is one of the most Republican things imaginable, and Democrats capitulating to Get Things Done is one of the most Democrat things imaginable.

bipartisan half-measuring of a ****ing pandemic so as to not upset the billionaires, the system works!

Well that bill is less than impressive.

I guess now that they've taken care of the working folks they can move onto the serious business of bailing out the oil barons, banks, and every other industry that begs for help.

I don't know where else to ask this but if interest payments on student loans are frozen, why not pause the loan since interest can't accrue. The balance just stays the same.

Then just freeroll that A. maybe a dem wins and you get more relief or B. once americans get comfortable with this new norm, it'll be tough to reinstate interest on the loans

just spitballing

Austria bans fathers of 6 or more people. I guess some large families will have to say so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen goodnight to some of their family members.

I'll see myself out.

Fed just cut rates to 0%. I guess we'll get to hear Trump whine for negative rates now.

30 year mortgage rates have gone from 3.5% to 4.0% in the last few days. Banks are not going to want to lend to anyone in this environment.

...and futures hit the limit down basically immediately. Anyone want to guess how quickly we throw the circuit breaker Monday morning? All they've done is fire their last bullet way too soon so we've got nothing in 2-4 weeks when **** really hits the fan.

Missed the opening, did Biden try to shake Bernie's hand? Seems like a great chance for both guys to make a point about not touching so I'm guessing Biden went right for the handshake.

9:32

the real question is when we hit the 13% circuit breaker

Bernie going hard at Biden over the SS and Medicare cuts. Biden handled it well enough ("I never voted for them") but Bernie should've hammered that earlier.

That said, when your oppoenent's base of support is the 45 and older crowd, telling them to go to Youtube and fact check is probably a waste.

'Go to the YouTube'
I know there's an over 35 requirement but there should be an under 70 requirement as well, this is such an embarassment.

True but what was Bernie’s alternative tactic?

Yeah, we get a few timeouts at 7% and 13% but if we hit 20%, everyone's done for the day. Seems like hitting the 2nd SB is in play given the quick futures reaction to the Fed moves. Jumping to this step prior to Tuesday's meeting seems to signal that they either don't know what they're doing (unlikely as they aren't Trump) or that this is worse than publicly know (way more likely since Trump and his lackeys have basically ****ed this up at every turn).

The best analogy I read was that it would be like going to your doctor and being told "Hey, everything's good, we're just gonna have you do a bunch of this chemo real quick. And just so you know, this is basically the last of it, so if it doesn't work...".

Not much really, given his base's lack of support. He was fighting uphill the entire time, but maybe if he'd have focused on Joe from the jump and gone after him as "coming for your SS" he could've eroded some of the 65+ support. Not sure if it works, but it's something.

This is amazing.

Everyone rightfully looks at Bernie, but Biden is bracing and in such pain.
