Why is Vera so heavy? Did he put it all on last minute?

I'm not too familiar with the advantages/ease of putting on weight within a few days or a week.

Sounds like Chavez Jr. lost weight to make 173 lol.

If Vera has any talent whatsoever he should be a good bet vs the odds, this has "out of shape/not taking it serious/rusty" written all over it for Chavez Jr. But I've never seen Vera fight, he has like an 80% winrate too, so not loving his chances even if Chavez gets in a car accident on the way to the arena.

Does that mean we'll see Chavez at like 180 when the fight begins, but Vera won't likely gain much/if at all?

I see people say that it's such an advantage to weigh more. I get the big power advantage, but clearly that's not always the case (Canelo the most recent example where 10lbs probably hurts you quite a bit vs your opponent).

I did see some clips of Vera this afternoon, and, uh, I wouldn't take Vera, even with the odds he's given. He seems pretty easy to hit and he wears himself out pretty easily with wide punches.

I don't give Vera much of a chance.

He doesn't have the power to do significant damage to Chavez Jr. and he seems to have little power in his left hand. He just tries to set himself up to unload looping right hands. Vera doesn't fight a hit-and-run kind of style that is needed for a weaker fighter to beat a far stronger one. JCC Jr should win this by KO or TKO midway through the fight. Like you said, he's very easy to hit and has no defensive skills what so ever. Even when he beat Andy Lee, he got smacked around and knocked down.

That said, this will not be a fight where either fighter dances around. Vera is a very TV friendly boxer.

Side note: The stoppage in the first Vera/Lee fight was complete bull**** imo. Lee got his revenge in a rematch by a lopsided UD.

I like what I see from Deontay Wilder. 29-0 with 29 KOs. Wish he'd fight better fighters because he's never gone further than 4 rounds in a fight.

EDIT: Not sure if anybody's watching Pascal fight this hack, but Pascal is carrying him through rounds. This is the worst fight I have ever seen. Maybe Pascal will take a dive because that's the only way Blades will win.

It's hard not to like Tim Bradley. He's got the heart of a lion. I used to not like him at all but the guy will fight anyone and makes a legit effort to give the fans what they want to see.
