There isn't one single notable German player unfortunately.

It's not like they're actually bringing PL dates to Germany (heck, they don't even go to Holland, one week in Amsterdam seems like a no-brainer). Give Hopp a few years and he might be getting close but nobody's even on the radar

edit - as an aside, the only week I watched last year was on scheissdsf while I was in Berlin and Seyler's quite good on the mic imo

Yeah I have no idea why they don't have an Amsterdam week on the PDC. They have multiple dates in UK cities which are super close to another venue that could be sacrificed. We really need Bournemouth AND Exeter?

Yeah I like our commentators, usually also very receptive to twitter comments and the likes

Darts in Amsterdam would be a great weekend trip. Maybe they're afraid that less people would come due to the other options that aren't necessarily there in, say, Mülheim. Amsterdam still overrated though.

You actually speak German on a level to judge Seiler?

i mean they could even schedule one of the european tour events due to be played in holland for the friday-sunday for the week that they're there to make things super easy for everyone

edit @above - my german's pretty hit and miss. i can understand a fair bit when it's spoken, particularly in sporting circumstances, as that's when i use it most (plus with darts there's a ton of easy words to understand). reading's probably easier as i have as much time as i need. i'm a terrible conversationalist though. lack of practise.

edit again - similar thing with snooker, first time I went over there was the weekend of one of the major tournaments, and the commentators were so much better than ours, even though a few things would have flown over my head

German commentators probably just logically tell it how it is, instead of just making up a load of utter bollocks.

Eeh Rolf Kalb the snooker guy has done a lot for snooker in Germany but he gets old pretty quickly especially if you know the rules. I always watch on the iPlayer if the bbc is broadcasting

Snooker tournaments in Germany get great attendance as well

Rough on Thornton, slightly less rough on Whitlock.

Huybrechts will be Webster 2.0

I just finished watching it on record. What a match. I thought he was finished when the 180 dropped out and Taylor nailed the 180. Then the misses to bring it back to 1-1. Coming back to win that set 3-2 I was sure Anderson would go on and take it.

i live in aus so haven't watched a ton of darts in the last 18 months. reading the list of PDC tournaments here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profess...ts_Corporation

which of these are the least crapshooty, i.e. fun to watch? i find the premier league to be a complete snoozefest due to the coinflippy 'race to 7 legs' bs.

I get into the PL for a few weeks then watch the finals. It's too long boring. I'm not sure.

The one that starts with the double is good. World Cup is also good and the one at Blackpool too.

pretty close. according to http://www.dartsdatabase.co.uk/PlayerStats.aspx it is
Code:
Rank	Player Country Wins
1	Phil Taylor England 57
2	James Wade England 5
3	Michael van Gerwen	Netherlands	5
4	Gary Anderson Scotland	4
5	Adrian Lewis England 4
6	Raymond van Barneveld	Netherlands	4
for category they only have premier/major but close enough.

The Matchplay is straight legs, and usually long structures (first round is first to 10, second I think is 13 and the rest are at least 17+. Its why Taylor has won all but two of them I think.

All the full TV tournaments over one week are reasonably structured.

Premier League is obviously just a cash cow around England and bringing the darts to the people, it is what it is.

lol BDO. After 1 set (3 legs) the number 1 seed has a 109 average. Announcer says for all the BDO haters this proves how good these guys are blah blah blah. Number 1 seed goes 0-18 on doubles rest of the match and loses next 9 legs.

Tony Green is the most deluded man in darts. He calls every outshot like it's Taylor vs MVG - 161 required, "treble twenty" (dart goes into the big 1) "can't go out now" - 11 darts later they hit double 2 or something.
The Random Darts Discussion Thread Quote

They should really move the BDO's so that it is before the PDC champs because I could maybe watch some of it if I hadn't just watched people a lot better do the same thing
