Sick. I've got a dinner party but it is at my UNC friend's house. We will be all over this game in his Cribs like home theater. I need a Cribs like home theater damnit.

If we have a 100% healthy Ginyard and Zeller for every game we lose 1, maybe 2 games on the season. Damn, would've been nice to see that.

Zeller was in warm ups yesterday and apparently participated in the pregame shootaround (I wouldn't know, I was in the student stand by line). Roy said he was 99.9% to redshirt, but that's just kind of Roy talk to me so there's a chance he might be back this year which I think would bolster our chances quite nicely even with the potential threat to team chemistry.

IRT Ginyard I hope he comes back instead of redshirting, I think we've seen how much our perimeter defense needs helping; it kills me to see our guards helping down on the post (how many times has a big man burn us this year?) and leaving a competent shooter wide open on the three point line. Oh well, at least it seems as though our defense has improved a bit.

Pretty sure Ginyard isn't redshirting. All reports indicate a mid to late Feb. full throttle return

Why the **** would Zeller redshirt, esp. if he's already got the cast off? Does anyone seriously a running 7 footer with soft hands and a jump shot is going to be here 2 more years, let alone 4? I bet he's worked back into the rotation by first dook game.

It's much more complicated than that, Zeller suffered a pretty serious fracture with fragmentation and ligament damage. Just because the cast is off doesn't mean he can get out there and hoop it up like a mad man.

Plus there is a huge liability aspect to look at from the position of his Drs. and the University.

Even if Roy wanted to put him back in the mix it might not be his call at all.

I pretty much agree with this wholeheartedly. It seems like Zeller's recovery is going ahead of schedule. Obviously it's contingent upon the doctors clearing Zeller, but I think he could add a ton to a championship run. IRT to Ginyard, there's been some chatter that Ginyard could redshirt this year to play a whole season next year. Once again, I would prefer him to return this year.

What? There's no way Ginyard is not coming back.

- He will come back just in time for ACC tourney, they will win that

- I echo your thoughts on Wake. I put them at #10 right now, still a top 10 team, but not a favorite to make the final 4.

- Zeller doesn't even really matter, honestly. Tyler can play 40 minutes, plus overtime, and they're so deep even without Zeller that hes really just another body. Ginyard coming back though, will help them tremendously, as theyre not that deep at guard, and he just adds so much quickness and defense that their fast break, which is already sick, will just be insane. They're a huge favorite to make the final 4 if they can get Ginyard in their offense late February.

- Even without Ginyard, it seems like your defense improved tremendously. Look for Carolina to win the ACC regular season, they seriously seem to be playing well.

Wat. We're not deep in the front court. And Zeller isn't just another body, he's 7 feet tall floor-running scorer and would shore up our post D a lot more. Look at how non-porous Carolina's driving lanes are when Ed Davis is in there to bother shots. We could really really use Zeller in a championship run for those reasons.

Also, there's no way Ginyard is staying next year, after his class graduates and his odds-on shot to get a NC goes away. He'll be in Europe imo.

I say he doesn't even matter really, which means he matters a little. Obviously a 7 footer is gonna help a little in their interior defense and shot blocking. But Ginyard coming back will be a huge impact.

Yeah, I agree. In late games come championship time, it'd be a big help to have Zeller (Offense)
/Davis (Defense) in late possessions.

I know what you're saying. I'm saying he'd matter a lot. As it is, we're not deep and we're not tall.

Agreed Ginyard back makes this a different and much better team. Mainly for his leadership skills, imo, since there's no natural floor leader besides him.

Leadership would help, but I'd say his defense/athletic ability is what we need most.

I don't know where everyone gets that Ginyard is coming back because Roy's comments on him as of Monday still sounded pretty blah IMO.

To echo what was said about Zeller, the cast may be off in mid-February, but he won't be completely healed and I'm not sure that they'll risk bringing him back. I think he'd give this team a huge boost if he's allowed back though.

Can anyone post the specific redshirt guidelines?
North Carolina Tar Heels basketball: All the nets are ours this year Quote

I don't have them, I just know that for Ginyard if he plays another minute this season (since it's halfway thru the season - tournament doesn't count) he loses any chance of a redshirt.

For Zeller, he falls under the rule where he didn't play 30% of his teams games so he'd qualify for a medical redshirt. Similarly to Ginyard if he plays one minute of any game from here on out he would be ineligible for a redshirt.

Don't fret HIV. It is going to make their mid- and late- season fails that much more enjoyable.

Which tournament Hoya? Next year's Maui Invitational? No, because we were just there. The Big East conference tournament? No, because we aren't a member of the Big East. Some clarification on your part is in order here.

BTW, lol at this year's Georgetown squad. Losers of four of their last six games.

I say Duke will peak on Feb. 11th (UNC at Duke game) then fade for the rest of the year. But I sure hope any New York Giant fans aren't in this thread because a man can get cut off for predictions like that around here, even when he's right. Make that especially if he's right.
