My pick gives way to the greatest achievement in history at that point.

Hannibal crossing the Alps. Long streak of WIM but with this moment he sacrificed 25 000 men to achieve a task not thought possible at that time.

Nah, it's my fault. I probably shouldn't have signed up for this, I had no idea I was going to have so many things come up this week. In fact, I might be a good late round WIL pick.

I thought Titanic would go earlier. At first I was like, "Huh, why is this guy picking DiCaprio? I always thought he was a pretty good actor."

They had like long sleeve shirts on and sandals, ate each other to survive, slept in the snow with little shelter, walked through their own piss and **** (causing them to die in large amounts), had to carry tons of **** like weapons supplies, got attacked by the people in the mountains with large rolling borders, had to get ready to fight for their lives and the survival of their people, what a move.

"Aut inveniam viam aut faciam" (or "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam"[1]) is Latin for "I shall either find a way or make one."[2][3][4] The first word "aut" may be omitted, corresponding to omitting the English word "either" from the translation.

The phrase has been attributed to Hannibal; when his generals told him it was impossible to cross the Alps by elephant, this was supposedly his response. However, Hannibal would have spoken in Punic, not Latin. The first part of the sentence, "inveniam viam", "I shall find a way," also appears in other contexts in the tragedies of Seneca, spoken by Hercules and by Oedipus, and in Seneca's Hercules Furens (Act II, Scene 1, line 276) the whole sentence appears, in third person: "inveniet viam, aut faciet."

I do have a classification question regarding your picks so far, Chilltown. You've got two things (Pharsalus and the Alps) that were definitely done by large groups of people, but that really are highlights of the individual WIM of the person leading the group.

Are they intended as "individual WIM" or "group WIM" picks? Or one of each?

There are at least a couple WIL events (or what some might consider WIL events) that are quite controversial and would probably get the poster banned.

All three of my men performed all time great individual WIM feats.

My picks celebrate their accomplishments and highlight the magnitude of it in various ways. Caesar in his achievement of world dominance like no other (Sulla ruled by fear, Caesar with the power of the PEOPLE OF ROME (which Caesar saved!)), The White Death in his world record of individual bodies, and Hannibal being named Hannibal and accomplishing a feat not thought possible by all.

They are simply some of my favorite moments that a lot of people don't know about.

Hannibal has a late round potential one more.

i'm more wondering what happens when someone picks some super "evil" (from our perspective) event and puts it in the WIM category.

I selected all WIM picks right away because that is the correct order you draft in. Fools.

Anyways, I have my 4+5 picks locked in and ready to go.

I never do this for drafts. I am used to walking to the plate and hitting home runs. See my recent TV draft performance and my GOAT video game draft performance.

So don't snipe me or do. Either way, as long as they get drafted cause the correct order is the proper wim drafter order.

I give no credit to the guy who PM'ed me to take it.

I'm sure I would have taken it anyway.

We take Leonidas and the 300 Spartans slaying tens or hundreds of thousands (depending on which historian you believe) of Persians at the gates of Thermopyle for Group WIM. Writeup to come later.

I knew what penultimate meant at one point. I remember looking it up when I saw it being used to describe the 9th episodes of GOT. And for some other TV series.

Don't know why I keep forgetting. Or why I thought it was appropriate to describe that battle.

But it kind of was cause it was the penultimate battle of the civil war in a way. Maybe I heard it there first. That's a lot of forgetting.

Good pick CDL!

I think I can use this example because I'd be amazed if he got drafted. You mean like someone arguing for Jeffrey Dahmer's WIM because he got hungry for human meat and just figured, "to hell with conventions and laws, I'm just going to eat people"?

right, there is lots more stuff like that which can pretty clearly be argued for the WIM category, it probably makes up the majority of the WIM category tbh.

if we were in russia people might think it's ****ed up if someone drafted simo for the WIM category...but as objectivish observes we can clearly recognize it for the WIM it is.

WIM isn't even confined to things that led to "success," you can manifest incredible WIM and fail ridiculously hard. Those are the picks I'm looking for.

I have a feeling this draft has to the potential to get both very interesting and completely out of control in a hurry.
