blackouts are such a stupid an antiquated idea, nobody in this day and age is ever going to buy a ticket they otherwise wouldn't have bought if it can't be seen on tv

Not sure if serious but nhl Blackouts have nothing to do with game tickets. The thing they're designed to make you buy is cable and the RSN. Now, that may be antiquated in itself, but RSNs aren't gonna pay huge sums for rights and production just to have local people pay 100 bucks a season for nhl.tv rather than whatever their channel costs a month

ah right that makes sense, i know of this because i got my dad mlb.tv last year and it was unusable because in maine, 4 hours drive from boston, was still considered NESN territory (the entire reason for getting him that was that NESN isn't on youtube.tv but have their own standalone streaming service which is like $30 a month or some insane price

just goes to show how little i think of the nhl that they were doing blackouts thinking it'd increase ticket sales like we were back in 1957

I really haven’t been watching or following the league very much at all this year, and that probably won’t change much, so I am unlikely to be in here too much, but every once in a while will chime in when I see something. I do also casually check the thread here.

So now some of the revelations on Perry was it involved alcohol and a fight? I saw a few reports that when they played Nashville they had a team event with staff there and was drunk and took a swing at a staff member or their spouse.

Who knows if this is true. I am curious why NHLPA has been silent on this. He also has 60 days to appeal the termination of his contract.

Zadorov to Canucks, way to miss out on that one Leafs, geeezus murphy.

Though looks like they wanted draft picks which Toronto does not want to do on some names and Calgary did not want to retain salary which the Leafs need someone to do.

the only laffs signed over $2.4m next season are matthews, marner, tavares and rielly ... can't they keep them all? but if you have to ditch someone, it's obviously tavares

look like he's having one of the best seasons of his career right now, 1 year left on his contract, an actual good leader etc (probably) ... someone would definitely take tavares

biggest issue with him is his no-move clause. if he doesn't want to leave it's game over, but maybe he's willing to secure his next contract, as the laffs prob can't afford to pay him what he can get going forward

Tavares is just having an average season so far, but yes my pick would be Tavares to go if need be even though yes he is a great leader, I am thinking he retires maybe, or take a Spezza special of less money with the lesser option of going to another team.

Oilers blacked out Tuesday and Thursday and now no game till Wednesday. Amazing how the Leafs are on TV every Saturday and they cant put the OIlers on tonight. Almost a week off
