Have you watched Bouchard yrs he is great offensively but is a huge defensively liability and lazy getting back

Ok the Rangers again, it's pretty funny they produce another retool letter to the fans and like two hours later the news is that none of the established players with NMCs want to leave.

I assume it'll work itself out with some of them, but they've got a lot of guys to unload

i mean 1st step would be firing drury, if they haven't already. iirc they had a nice build going before they lost their mind and hired him in first place. never should have done that, so yeah tear that bandaid off already. or don't and keep this clownshow going, idc lol

Oh and Abram Weibe, who is a college kid apparently.

I mean we can go to the Oiler fan boards and argue this to the death. You say he's defensive liability, I point out his amazing xg% and actual g%, you post a clip of him making a ridiculous giveway, I point out the Oilers have AHL goalies, yadda yadda yadda.

In the end - he's been in the top 10 in Norris voting the last two years. He's been the clear #1D on a team that made the finals twice in a row suggesting maybe he's not this immense impediment to winning you seem to think he is. He's second in Canadian defense scoring only to Makar over any reasonable time frame you want to look at. He is *in every conceivable way* better than Drew Doughty, including "knowing how to win" or whatever - Doughty hasn't been out of the first round of the playoffs in a decade.

Kiefer Sherwood to San José of all places

Bruins apparently offered their 2027 1st for Andersson and may have it on the table for others. Seems like a bad idea.

Is it no longer a game misconduct if a goalie crosses center ice to join a skirmish?

Edit: yeah I am correct.

No — an NHL goalie is not allowed to cross center ice to join a fight.

Under NHL Rule 27 (Fighting) and Rule 46 (Fighting):

If a goalie crosses the center red line to participate in a fight, the penalty is:

Game Misconduct (automatic ejection)

Plus additional discipline (often a suspension and/or fine)

What is allowed:

A goalie may leave the crease to defend themselves only if the fight occurs in their half of the ice (i.e., they do not cross center ice).

Why this rule exists:

To prevent escalations and long skates where goalies abandon the net to start or join fights.

Quick summary:

❌ Cross center ice to fight → Game misconduct + likely suspension

✅ Fight without crossing center ice → Allowed, but still penalized like any fight

Goalie Bob never got ejected in the game and played the last 14 minutes.

How does that work? Should at least one goalie always be getting thrown out then or can they fight if each of their skates stay on their side of the red line while their fists cross it to get punches in?
The NHL Thread Quote
01-20-2026 , 04:49 PM
you would think, yeah

thought about it for a minute and it seems designed to reduce brawls, while allowing goalies to defend themselves from shitheads. probably smart to make goalie fights difficult, idk. even though everyone loves them. maybe they wouldn't be so cool if they were more common. like goalie goals

I know its a short term sample size but amazing how goalies that cant cut in Edmonton seem to thrive elsewhere
