hmm yeah, in hindsight that is obviously not championship caliber forward depth

lol ol' billy boy sloppy steaks
Now do every other team still alive.

I didn’t really think that until they stopped and showed the replay, so, I don’t deserve any real credit.

i mean, their 3rd best forward is a 38yo mats zuccarello, who has never been more than a 2nd liner. they have a 35yo marcus johansson and a washed up 34yo tarasenko on their 2nd line (or 31yo ryan hartman). the rest of their forwards aren't really worth talking about. it's a very old and mid group overall.

hughes is a moran if he doesn't leave asap, and i'm guessing he will. to new jersey, obviously.

Amazingly I think they got everything right.

You can't necessarily see the puck across the line, but you can piece it together using the angle that shows the puck was vertical near the back of Dobes' glove. If it had been laying flatter, then I don't think you can give the goal. But also, his glove wouldn't have gone beyond the goal line if it wasn't hit by the attacker's stick.

LUL, linesman is standing right next to the high sticking and even looks back at the ref like "oof, did you see that?" and then they don't even call it.

Evans was even bleeding too, so it was a 4.

(points per 60 minutes)

boldy 3.26
kaprisov 3.09
zuccarello 2.95
---
johansson 2.54
tarasenko 2.52
eriksson ek 2.29
---
hartman 2.03
yurov 1.67
trenin 1.27
---
sturm 1.23
hinostroza 1.21
foligno 1.08

but ok lets do a 1 team comparison, picked the habs bc they're the closest in points among the remaining teams. caufield and suzuki are the best 2 players, zucc/demidov is a wash, slaf is way better than anyone on the wild's 2nd line. ok eriksson ek and hartman are better than montreal's 6f, but their entire 3rd line is better than minny's 8f, and entire 4th line better than their 9f. thats a shocking lack of forward depth. like 7.5 meaningful forwards, and the top guys aren't even that good.

so yeah, lol gm sloppy steaks, especially given how the easiest thing to do is pick up some random contributor at the trade deadline for a 6th round pick or future handjob or whatever
edit: ESPECIALLY when you know you have to play dallas and colorado just to get out of the division and trying to impress hughes so he re-signs. criminally incompetent ... not that i really care though

caufield 3.58
suzuki 3.55
demidov 2.93
---
slafkovsky 2.88
newhook 2.47
texier 1.95
---
kapanen 1.87
dach 1.78
bolduc 1.69
---
gallagher 1.45
evans 1.38
anderson 1.37

Buffalo not dumping in the puck every single chance they get is a massive leak since it's apparently a 16% chance of scoring

idk about now, but prime tarasenko was a 2 way beast

and eriksson ek is considered one of the better defending forwards in the league
