enforcer toughness just doesn't mean anything anymore, if it ever did. like yeah sure in the 80s maybe having a mega-goon saved your superstar from being murdered ... but maybe not. but now, having guys in your lineup who legit can't play is just a major own goal if you have aspirations of winning anything. i'd rather have a 5'9" ahler who busts his ass 99 times out of 100

the leafs lost to the panthers because they got goalie'd. they were the better team, but that's just the variance of a 7-game playoff series. you can accept that (trust the process), or you can blow up your team for no reason (die by the narratives). as a laffs hater, gods i love the good ol ontario don cherry uncles here

also this **** obscures the fact that the laffs have been doing the whole tuff guy gritxperience thing. matt martin, wayne simmonds, nick foligno, ryan oreilly, etc etc etc they've had a bunch of these guys like every year. they've always been hedging like that

Ok, well good, all I got come playoffs is the loleafs. What about John Klingberg? Listening to the youtube now...Brings offense. Puck moving d-man. Bad D. 33 points. 4.15mill. Hmm...(oh house said it..."lol"...good)

Yeah, they are saying this is button clicking.

klingberg's been on a downward slide for 2-3 years now. 4m seems like a lot for a reclamation project, unless there's a good reason for what's been going on with him. knowing treliving, there isn't, and he's just washed

edit:
like the bumz getting shattenkirk for 1m seems way better

Tough goalie market this off season. Not many options, Jarry was an all star and one of the best goalies in the league 2 seasons ago. Hopefully a healthy off season of training will right the ship. Pens getting Karlson will be interesting.

Ottawa giving Korpisalo 5×4 seems AWFUL. They've gotta be like 90% likely to search for another starter in 2025 (if they're lucky). Five years, wow

yeah last time i looked thought his numbers looked good, kind of basing that off the pens ppl i follow constantly bitching about all their goalies + the contract + their other moves being lol. i'd rather just sign a bunch of whoevers for 1m

Yeah, all the pens top guys were healthy last year so fans are blaming missing the playoffs on Jarry, which could be the case. But he was one of the best goalies this year in free agency and I'd rather trade for Karlson than Hellebyuck. Funny how if he doesn't get hurt against the Rangers, pens probably win that round, he doesn't suck all season and gets atleast 2M AAV more this contract.

I blink my eyes and soooo much happens in the offseason...will have to get caught up more when I sober up tomorrow

in the meantime, some random notes:

all jonathan quick does is win rangz wherever he winds up. for those who think this stuff is important - I have only heard positive things about his locker room presence when he was with vgk (not always the case here)...time to hammer the Rangers SC futures for next year.

I almost drove my car off of the road when I heard Adin Hill resigned with VGK for 2 yrs / $5 mil per. Logan Thompson (i.e vgk's #1 goalie before he got hurt) is open to playing elsewhere next year for any team needing a decent goalie.

those guys are clowns, reaves is the real deal in the "tough guy" dept. does that give a team SC equity? obv not but fwiw I'm pretty sure leafs fans will enjoy watching reaves do his thing...he's great if he's on your team. tkachuk probably would have gotten knocked out of the leafs series early on if the leafs had reaves (I'm being serious - tkachuk can't resist taunting the bull and what kolesar did to him is a massage compared to what reaves would have done to him)

Skaters like when the goalie takes the blame for every goal against, and every save was a result of the D limiting the oppositions options. Been this way his whole career.
(Definitely not the case with Lehner)

No but I did see the VanVleet news and it's insane.

And some of the NHL signings yesterday were for like 700k-800k per year. Has the salary cap gone down????

I was like wow! Well, we lost half the team yesterday so fits in better now. :P They are also talking with Max Domi the last couple days trying to hammer the right amount for multi year deal.

Funny enough I am going to joke with Larry Tanenbaum that I will take that amount per year to play when he is here in September, LOL. I guess it's a different situation for us common folk

They must be either trading one of the big dogs or Robidas island for Murray.
