Cleaning house

I knew they wanted results this year and a deep run, yes one goal was to get past the first round but let's be honest the Leafs only played 1 or 2 good games, all the others they did not play that great so that might have been a factor.

There is no way you keep the core 4 together now. In order I would say the most to least tradable players are Marner, Matthews, Nylander, Tavares.

You need to find out from Matthews in the next month whether he will or will not sign an extension. If he has no plans to and just "wants to wait til later then see ya".

And in Non-Leafs news: Cooley staying at Univ of MN for another year. Yeah, I wouldn't go play for Arizona either.
All the rumors right now are saying it's going to be Marner the one traded out of the 4,lol.

Spezza also handed in his resignation. Full cleanse. Likely didn't want to be part of toxic org.

Tavares you can not move, Matthews you would be insane to (if getting re-signed, and tough even if not yet will). Willy is on the best contract and played best for them in play-offs so guess then Marner the only choice if u feel someone has to go. I do remember maany talking heads insisting that Wsh trade Ovie as they keep on losing and u cant win with him. And he had been in wsh for longer ofc.

Ovi had a lot of coaches fired throughout his career.

This is what I'm thinking. Nylander was good. Nobody is taking Tavares straight up, like you would have to throw in picks, and he can veto moves to bad teams that do that. And look, Matthews gets deserved criticism for not "going into the corners", not playing with his hair on fire...but 1st round he was a terror, and...just so much variance, a couple of post turned into goals, etc. You just don't find guys like Matthews, you have to suck for years and even then u get Slav or the 5th pick...

Mitch...I do think he is a problem, he is no doubt soft, shakey in clutch. Leafs got 5 weeks they say or some no trade clause kicks in. If they could go back in time, trade Marner to Flames for Matthew Tkachuk...Leafs still playing.

Soooooo.......... how was your day with your NHL team yesterday?

The rumor (1 of a gazillion) is Dubas wanted 6-7 million a year for 5 years and total power, Leafs offered 4 million per year.

Are we going to see anything major this offseason with the Leafs? Or is that the next offseason?

Well, they got 1 month to figure out the core four situations so would say yes. They got to decide if they are resigning players, I got a feeling Dubas made all sorts of promises to all these players he brought in for cheap, so I think it's a big mess to try and figure out. Also got to decide if they are keeping Keefe.

Guessing it was the total power, not the money, that was the issue.

I’m already on Dallas +105 for tomorrow’s game. I think they even up the series.

Shanahan's stated reasons for not going with Dubas made me shake my head.

He said something like this twice, "When that happened, I started to think maybe I should change my mind."

When Dubas said he wasn't sure if he should come back because of how it affects his family, Shanahan thought, "Family? WTF guy, this is more important, this is Hockey."

When Dubas' agent had a counter-offer, Shanahan thought, "I thought we had a deal. Who TF are you? You play hard to get, I'll play who TF wants you!!"

But it sounds like Dubas was trying to work around Shanahan.

Correct, haha. He was just looking for an excuse to get rid of Dubas IMO.

My pick is Brad Treliving.

But we can throw $millions at Scott C of 2p2 forum, Steve Dangle Victory puppy, Steve Dangle himself, Don Cherry the list goes on and on.

Did anyone clock exactly when the break started? I keep meaning to check if the break between the 3rd and 4th period is 15 minutes and not the usual 18 minutes.

That does appear to be the rule.
