If you want to do a devils write up I would appreciate it for the OP. (same as I did with Goose for the kings/blues thread) I've got plenty of kangz stuff, none for the devils.
If you would rather 72o did it, I've got no problem submitting to him.
If any of the regs have pics / gifs / other contributions they think warrant inclusion, post them itt or pm me.

I was at the game. The far linesman (who had a way better vantage point) first waved it off. The other linesman then called icing. It was the right decision.

this was one of the better games of hockey all playoffs. i can't believe how much the devils got dominated and for how long.

i also can't believe how little was said about how great the game was. were you guys not watching this?

obviously it's back to cally/dubinsky/anisimov. that line played like the top scoring line in the nhl of old.

why was nothing said about how much of a F*******K (that's a *really* long ****) MDZ was in this game. he did SO MUCH WRONG in the first period. so so so so so so so much.

i swear torts shoulda sat MDZ for being ******ed. take the man OR the puck, don't sit there and be a douche. meanwhile, mcdonagh did *EVERYTHING* right. extremely solid game from him BEFORE he even got the assist.

lundqvist then keeps the rangers in the game, preventing it from being a runaway. and mcdonagh makes 2-3 great plays on his way to an "it's a 1 goal game" goal. followed shortly thereafter by callahan giving the rangers (everybody's doing it) a leg to stand on (no idea why the announcers kept saying a leg up).

and from then on, we did just that and stood tall, forechecking (except gabby ofc), played great D, had great goaltending and dominated the entirety of two periods, moving the spotlight to brodeur. i can't even make fun of him. he absolutely earned his title as one of the (1? 2? 3?) best goalies in the history of the nhl. so many chances. so many stonings. and lundqvist played an incredible game. absolutely incredible. but the stop by brodeur on callahan was insane (though he probably shouldn't have had to make that great of a save). yes cally could lifted it a bit more if he realized brodeur was slightly outta position, but still great shot, great stop.

and torts had it right, everybody thought it would end early in OT, and it did...just that the rangers would be the ones ending it given how the previous two periods went.

i've watched that final goal replayed a lot and aside from the bad mojo gabby's skates brought there (and the lack of any mojo all game) it's a legit tough choice for richards. he has to choose between helping out girardi by taking henrique (girardi 100% should have not just tapped him but 100% muscled him out rather than tapping and leaving) or playing goalie behind lundqvist, which he chose after seeing the puck scramble loose while henrik didn't see it. but he made the right choice and tried to prevent a loose puck from trickling/being pushed in...meanwhile girardi just left henrique completely open, puck squirts out and richards can't stop it. henrique has the offensive awareness (read: ****ING LUCK) to be a) left alone by a usually very aware D, b) have the puck not be covered by a stretched lundqvist, c) not be covered by a sprawled out richards, and d) squirt out slowly directly in front of him. merry christmas indeed.

tough tough goal to end the game (and series) on (but mostly game). we played our hearts out and it showed in the last two periods there and a scramble and a bad play by a key defenseman cost us a game 7 at home.

hats off to the rookie (both henrique and kreider for his outstanding playoff performance but mostly henrique), great job by the king, and an absolutely stellar-under-all-kinds-of-pressure performance by possibly the greatest netminder of all time.

well done brodeur, well done.

see you next season.

i obv didn't get to see (and even more obviously don't care) which linesman called what. somebody has to have a final say and the choices on this multiple choice test are:

a) icing (faceoff in devil's zone), or
b) no icing (faceoff in rangers' zone).

there IS NO (and never should be) a choice c), faceoff in the middle of the ****ing ice b/c the icing call was kinda close. wtf was that?

what's next, a questionable penalty call resulting in ONE MINUTE in the box? seriously...that's how stupid the call was and it's a perfect analogy. hedging the results of the call after the call.

that made no sense at all from an officiating standpoint (or from any other standpoint). a ref can't make a call knowing it's a close call and then hedge by CHANGING THE RESULTS of the call (from what i could tell from watching at home it was CALLED ICING, but then "something" happened...no idea what...and the officials hedged their bet and put the puck in the middle).

100% illogical ruling.

The results weren't changed. The icing was waved off FIRST by the far linesman. When a linesman waves off an icing, an icing cannot be called. However, after an official had already decided it wasn't icing, another one came in and blew the whistle. The ruling couldn't have been more logical.

and i know triumph was trying to troll us true ranger fans (you're right some people didn't realize there was a sport called hockey...but of the fans watching the entire game, they represented a small proportion - b/c the people who just found this sport prob turned it off after 2-0 and back on after 2-1 or 2-2) but he's actually right. true, our top regular season scorer is 30 and our 'superstar' is 32, but look at the very very young talent we now have. hagelin earned a spot on the top line, kreider obviously has a great deal of superstar potential (his speed alone is awesome, nevermind his hockey mind), and mcdonagh...just wow...ryan ****ing mcdonagh...he's just awesome. and a key key line for us (cally/dubinsky/anisimov) is 25-27. our captain is a ranger through and through, never played for another team, and continually shows his great hockey skill and mind. and we still have a solid checking line, the man wearing an A consistently (except for 1 play a game it seems) playing very well, and a top 2 goalie.

i think we have another great season ahead of us even though it's heartbreaking to see this slip away after the last two periods we put up.

sorry, i'm no expert but i think you're incorrect here.

the results of the call were changed. if there was NO icing (b/c there can't be icing when the icing was waived off, apparently), then faceoff stays in rangers end.

if an official already decided it was icing and THEN somebody blew the whistle and a rule (apparently?) exists that there can't be icing when it's waived off (by the first lineman), we go by what the first lineman (the one who apparently waived off icing) says....uh...NO ICING, and the puck stays where it is.

again, make the analogy to any other call (assuming for a second that's possible with offsides). it's either a) or b).

That's not the rule. As Devils fans with long memories will remember, when a fictional icing was called in Game 2 of the 2008 series against the Rangers, the puck went to center ice for a faceoff. Any time an erroneous icing is called, the faceoff goes to center ice. I didn't see the trailing official wave it off, but if he did, that's the correct call.

And yeah, it was a great series. I didn't post during the game because I was too on edge to do so.

Yes let's brag about the Stanley cups the Rangers won in 1927, 1933, and 1940. In the last year 1940, there were 8 teams in the league. I'll take the titles over the last 20 years, you know in my lifetime. I can't imagine you were a Rangers fan in 1940 but I guess if you are that old, congrats.
