haha it's funny to see that all of my opinions of hockey have changed since that thread.

Florida, eh, I dunno - I mean I know Tallon's an idiot, but geez, 4 years is a lot of time. I think the Flyers would have to pick up salary on that. Lecavalier is entering the point in his career where a lot of guys with his pedigree became checking liners but he never learned defense, so yeah.

For the Leafs' sake, I hope the Devils ignore his advice.

Long time 2p2er. Also wrote the seminal book on cash NLHE.

He occasionally posted in earlier iterations of this thread.

No kidding. I am 90% reversed on analytics. I think they are the strongest evidence available.

I turned during the shortened season. Everyone could see the Leafs were in rough shape, despite the wins. journalists kept pumping their tires despite the obvious problems. So, I looked deeper into the statistical work behind Corsi and other possession metrics, PDO, WOWYS, and situational data, and (thank you, University of Toronto math and commerce degree) was converted.

There are still lots of areas the numbers can tell us more about the results of our player selection, deployment, and tactical decision-making, and that work is being done by Tyler Dellow among others.

I think this hiring may be the tipping point.

2. New York Rangers

GJGE. No, seriously.

They won the junior circuit on account of the Habs upsetting the Bums, but couldn't quite match up to the best of the west. With 3 overtime games it was a very respectable effort though, and could have ended up differently with a few bounces here or there. But it wasn't to be, better luck next year, like 29 other teams.

2 year deal for Iginla in the works according to Boston folks. I'd be ok with it provided Claude is open to the idea of him playing on line 2 or 3 if he slows down more.

Well now that the season is over I will be doing a "What would I do if I was GM" write up in the next few days.

On another note...

Any of you in Vegas for the WSOP?

If you are let me know by PM or something and maybe we can go grab a few drinks

I got Habs as one of the dumbest organizations in the NHL.

Next up: trade Subban for some toughness and size.

living legend Louis Leblanc dealt for a conditional 5th

and speaking of dumb organizations, sounds like the Wild might FPS their way out of a free Vanek cause PLAYOFF PERFORMANCE
hopefully it's just posturing so that they can get him for as cheap as possible

Parise, Koivu, Pominville, Vanek, Granlund, Coyle, Cooke, Brodziak, Haula, Niederreiter, Zucker, etc needs to happen

if only they took Pouliot or Trouba instead of Dumba...

Islanders such a dumpster fire they draft a guy #5OV and trade him for a 12 goal checker 3 years later because they ruined him his rookie year letting him have 55 GP, 1G, 0A, and -29.

And THEN they park him in the minors the entire next year.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

cant expect more than a new contract for the coach leading the team to 4th in the east and eliminating the bolts and bruins with a pretty mediocre team
