Their best scorers are European. Meh, I still think Vancouver wins and I do like their team, honestly I think they have a team built for the playoffs but there is something that bothers me about them and I think it is the Sedins. Obviously they are good but I am reminded of the Red Wings and guys like Pavel Datsyuk. Despite how great he was in the regular season he really disappeared in the playoffs early in his career and I just remember Detroit's early round exits and all the Europeans they had on the roster. Having those 2 + Samuelsson as 3 of your top scorers bothers me. I might be wrong on this but we'll see.

I think Vancouver could be a legit contender as well as a first exit. (San Jose Sharks exhibit A).

I'm not exactly sure what to expect out of the Sedins. In the '07 playoffs they really really stunk. I mean they got shutdown hard and the Canucks didn't have enough secondary scoring to overcome that. Last year though, they were much much better and I suspect this year will be the same. Provided no one 'chokes' we've got 3 lines that can potentially be dangerous.

I'm more worried about our defense tbh. (and Luongo).

Yes

I'm shaving Thursday night (Game 1 for the Hawks is Friday)

- Does mustache trimming violate the laws of the playoff beard? Cause I'm not trying to look like The Kid over here.

Yes imo, though I'll still likely trim

I think the rules are what you want to make them. Ill trim my mustache if Sabres go deep (haahahha) just because the itchy lip falls into itchy neck territory its ****ing annoying.
Are you doing the beard-a-thon?

In case you don't know about it:
Beardathon for charity

Fans grow playoff beards? Really? That's ****ing weird

Anyway, if you're gonna do it, and might need to impress a lady, Owen Nolan style goatee is the way to go.

In regards to playoff beards. I haven't shaved in a week or so because I can't grow much of a beard, I just grow a mustache that grows in more on the right side and neck hair only right under my chin. But anyways, I'm growing it for as long as possbile. I'm not trimming either.

1. It's a given. Yes I always grow one but it's a trade off cause no sexytime with wife with beard.

2. No shaving on the calendar day of game 1

3. No trimming whatsoever, but don't worry you won't have it long

GO CANUCKS

That is all

Hopefully all the Canucks grow Sedin beards for the playoffs.
04-13-2010 , 12:45 AM

Me on the left during last year's playoffs. Don't remember how long after starting the beard that was...but hey, the first round only lasted like two weeks so it couldn't have been that long.

Opinions seem to be mixed wrt mustache-shaving, so I'm gonna go with trimming = ok because the Crysbystache isn't gonna be doing me any favors on my date.

Don't know about a playoff beard this year, they get so itchy. Last year I grew one, best way to describe it is kinda like Sergei Gonchar's in terms of thickness:

But I did trim it a couple times.

A preview of Sabres vs Bruins

04-13-2010 , 01:27 AM
Quick synopsis of the West matchups:

San Jose in 5 over Colorado: This probably should be a sweep, but the Avalanche luckbox express likely won't allow that to happen. They might even win two games! Anybody trying to draw parallels between this year and last year should know that they aren't similar at all. The Ducks were an experienced team with a dominant first line and a fantastic defensive core. The Avs are a young, inexperienced team that has little shot at upsetting what should be a hungry Sharks team. Mueller's injury status is also a huge question mark, they'll need him if they're going to put any kind of scare into San Jose.

Chicago in 6 over Nashville: I don't see an upset here, either. Nashville is a well coached, well structured team that should keep most of the games close, but Chicago has too much power up front to ignore. Nashville doesn't really have any strong offensive players, their attack is very balanced. That actually bodes well for them, but Rinne is going to have to play extremely well. I'm a little worried about Chicago's banged up defensive core, but they should still take this series. I see Nshville stealing a game or two though with opportunistic scoring and strong defense like they have done for most of the year..

Vancouver in 7 over Los Angeles: Really looking forward to this series, both teams are fun to watch. The Kings come into the series completely healthy as far as I know, which could be a big advantage with Mitchell on the shelf and guys like Salo in and out of the lineup. Both teams can light the lamp offensively, the big edge in this series is in goal. Quick has been poor lately and hasn't won a game in weeks. Luongo is Luongo, regardless of a less then stellar season. Kings are more experienced than people think, but their main core is not. I like Vancouver though, their forward depth is fantastic. I feel like the Kings will put up a much better fight than the Blues did last year, but in the end it won't be enough.

Detroit in 6 over Phoenix: I was hoping this matchup wouldn't happen. Partly because I want to see Detroit take on all of the elite teams to get back to the Finals, but also because I think they are going to put an end to a fairytale season for the Yotes, and once again deny the franchise the chance to win a playoff series. Phoenix is really the who's who of elite teams, their roster doesn't scare anybody, but somehow they keep winning games. You have to give all the credit to Tippet and Bryzgalov, who both will be in contention for some individual awards in the coming months. Unfortunately for them Detroit is firing on all cylinders coming into the playoffs, and sans Maltby they are completely healthy. Phoenix's keading scorer only has 55 points, and only one player has over 20 goals. Of course Stempniak has 14 since coming over to Phoenix in February, but they're going to need to put on a WIM clinic to get by Detroit.
