how do we determine injuries, are the players just injured for whatever amount of games they were in real life (and for those specific games so if a player missed the playoffs in the real nfl do they miss it in our league too)?

We're only playing out one season this time, not an entire franchise. Therefore, I think its best to assume that all of our players will be healthy for an entire season. I mean I dunno....I guess if a player played less than 16 games in >50% of his seasons then you could argue that he'd most likely miss a game or two in our league. But for the most part, lets assume health.

ok then how about some minimum game requirement to use that season, cause someone could just argue that although player x played 7 great games he would have kept it up for the entire season even though it was the best 7 game stretch of his career.

Maybe something like the player has to have played a minimum of 10 games that year for it to be able to be used?

In, pls to be keeping it at 32 teams max, and make sure everybody's a FREQUENT sporting events reader/contributor

+1 on both accounts. I think the frequent contributor part is important, it seemed like the guys who weren't really part of the community where the main culprits in holding up the draft for bball. On top of that a lot of them provided very little discussion or input.

I think everyone will rightfully downgrade players who only did well in a few games on their own. I don't want to limit people in their choices because I want to encourage debate- let them try to argue that a player who was mediocre every year but had one great year(and they pick him in that year) will truly be good in any league/system/team for that year of his career and then let others argue back with him....debate is good for the league.

And I agree that anyone going off of a guy who only played 7 games would be totally wrong....but if anyone wants to try to argue for that then I'm not going to limit them.

I will limit it to 32 as per your guys' request. However, I'm not going to turn people away if they promise to be good owners as it'd be unfair since I've already accepted many. Hopefully we can get 12 more as soon as today and then I'll draw the draft order and we can get going.

So we get everyone at their absolute peak, even if they only played like 3 years but totally owned... that doesn't count against them. Right?

yes you get them at their peak. However, longevity imo is still rewarded because you can't argue that it was a fluke. For example(and I'm naming names now, but as I said, once the draft starts its not allowed) a guy like Curtis Martin is guaranteed production in our league whereas guys like Terrell Davis or Kurt Warner you could argue that it was flukish or due to system and that it won't carry over to our league.

Are we allowed to use players 1 year from this year's season?

Good question...my first thought is yes you can take those players at their current age. Everyone ok with that?

You get to pick a player at any age...EPiPeN11 was thinkng of it in terms of seasons and not age. In reality you could pick a player at any age, so you could get him right now, a week ago, or at the start of this season.

Basically any player who has played an NFL game, you can draft him and choose his age exactly down to the day.

Ohh and if you are still taking input I think the owner limit should be 32 and for what it's worth I thought the NBA was too big should've been 30.

You do realize the dynamic that this is going to create right? The draft can definitley turn into who can find the most "1 season wonders". Since injuries and building a franchise isn't a requirement what's going to keep someone from just loading up with these types of players and arguing "it's just one season"? I really think that they key should be building a franchise and you get them their first year after college.

I don't know about you, but I would heavily downgrade a player who only did it for one year based upon the thought process that he simply ran above average that year and that if we repeated that year as a separate trial its definitely not going to be as good. I think that most people would agree with me, and it especially sounds like you do.
