Singletary, Faulk, and Thomas were all great picks. Thomas is a guy who I thought would fall because of his death, when there's really no reason to shy away from him since you get him for only one year.

McNabb? Don't think he's good right here. I don't think he's the top QB by peak at all. I think there's very clearly one QB who that belongs to right now, and there are a few others I'd take. McNabb belongs to a tier of guys who are all pretty close to each other.

God I just waded through like 8 pages to catch up. Great discussion in this thread so far. Agree with a few people that I don't know about trading up to get McNabb. Although he did go to Syracuse so I'm supposed to hang on his nuts...which greatly goes against my Giants fandom. What a debacle.

Can anyone actually argue my points...instead of just saying the first thing that comes to mind, and repeating the same thing over. "there were better QBs available"....sure - but none of which carry McNabbs attributes! (at least not at that high of a level as he does). Read the previous posts...I have refuted/explained just about every point against McNabb made in this thread successfully!

I really think McNabb is the Rodney Dangerfield of this draft...no respect!

This whole thread is about arguing your point - and explaining your pick (as I have done)...yet no one can argue against what I have said...so they just say "there were better QBs left".

I expect more from you JoA as a frequent SE poster.

Dunno...just seems like even though McNabb has some great attributes that will mess well with Moss it wasn't your biggest need. The best thing about Randy is his ability to improve those around him specifically the QB. You could have potentially gone with someone higher end at a different position and taking a mid tier QB who would be able to get Moss the ball because of Moss' dominant ability at the WR. Add that you traded up to get him and it was just a little surpising.

Thomas was the guy I wanted on the way back.

The reason picking McNabb now is not b/c McNabb is bad, it's b/c you could have gotten him at your pick and you might have been able to get him with your pick next round, he's at best marginally better than the QBs that will be drafted in the next two rounds. I guess you feared he would go soon, but I'm prety sure you feared incorrectly. I'm pretty sure all the other QBs that have been picked will make the HOF, it's doubtful McNabb will. I don't think he's ever been a top 3 QB in the league ever e/c maybe 1 year with a HOF level WR. I guess you can argue he's had below average talent surrounding him offensively, and how he has a stud at WR, but I can't see moving up that much for him considering how well that HOF WR has made QBs look good his entire career.

You have a HOF level WR, I can't see matching him with McNabb this early, I think it's bad value and would have prefered probally going something defensive next and QB later seeing that as long as you get a QB who can throw a bomb, you will have a pretty damn good O. There's no doubt McNabb-Moss is probally good but Moss-3rd round QB is not going to be that much worse. There are other players who are more accurate and who can move yet, I guess you can argue that he's a better leader but that's doubtful.

Not crazy about the McNabb pick.

The Mcnabb pick is turrible.

In response to your point about his specific attributes SD (and no Mcnabb doesnt have pin point accuracy at any distance), there is definitely at least 1 QB left who is comparable to Mcnabb in many departments and clearly better in others.

I was at the game when DT had 7 sacks, and then Dave Krieg eluded his grasp for his 8th on the last play of the game and threw a 25 yard td to beat us 17-16. Man that was crazy. Ah, the joyous time when the Chiefs were the kings of KC.

Pretty sure I know who you're talking about and I agree.

Guy I think your talking about has a really weird career of consistancy and took a ton of sacks. His peak year is pretty sick though.

Peyton has done really well with a team with much less talent than Tom brady. I would argue that Brady has had a much better O line to work with, to go along with a much better all around team, not only system. Pats are just such a solid team, and everyone on that team plays their role so well. I agree brady plays a part in that, but the system is already set and will roll on. Peyton I believe has more natural talent, not as much of a fundamental player as brady.

They are extremely close, but the fact that manning has had more than 1 year of above 100 QB rating and brady had only 1 breakout year, other years he was solid. I weighed over playoff performances and more consistant regular seasons and I went with Manning giving more weight to the 3 years of above 100 QB ratings then 2 years of almost ( 99. 98. )

Also can someone link to spreadsheet of football draft
lol no. Also glad u state a lot of ur reasoning that he had better QB stats is why u picked Manning while ignoring Manning had by FAR the better offensive team than Brady except for last year and its not even close.

Also re- Derek Thomas.

I think it's a fine pick but he can be neutrilized by running the ball right at him. I remember on a Monday Night game (I forgot vs who) they constantly ran the ball right at Thomas not allowing him to use his speed (he was best at running to the ball during the run, but if they ran right at him he looked a ton worse)

A couple thoughts:

McNabb was a HUGE reach here. I really think you must be a huge McNabb fan or something, because I don't have him among the top 5 QBs left. For one, you can't deny the guy is a choke artist of the highest degree. Second, he can't make it through a season without getting injured. Third, I dunno what you're talking about, but McNabb has nowhere near pinpoint accuracy. McNabb's one of those guys who'll make a ton of highlight plays, but he's definitely not the type of leader you want as your QB. And I defended your Moss pick earlier by saying you could surround him with guys that will get his respect, but there's no way Moss would respect McNabb. Why trade up for him when you most likely could have grabbed him with your 3rd round pick?

Thomas was a great pick here. He was who I was targeting with my pick.

And re-McNabb I think it's terrible because he's not even close to the best QB avaliable.

I don't think picking a QB is bad, heck picking a QB or RB is good right now as there are a decent amount of elite ones still left, but picking McNabb as ur QB when there are just flat out better ones avaliable is wrong.

I went through a list of QBs:

Retired Players: There are about 2 of so elite level QBs, 10 or so good / pb level QBs and 5 or so solid starters left.

Vets there are about 5 or so above level starters available.

And then the young gusy I think there are 5 QBs who are left who are pretty damn good already.

Not sure how many QBs have already been selected I think it's around 10-12, but I think even 32 will have a very good QB.

I see that I am a few picks away and if we don't get to my spot by about 11:30 EST I won't be able to pick til about midnight tonight. I'll try to check a computer at 3 or grab a friends blackberry or something. I would PM my picks...but in reality there is only one player that I want at the moment, lol.
