Eh, Lloyd to NE makes too much sense. Reunite with the OC who made/revived his career, and NE as good as that offense is, could still use a good deep threat.

Yeah, it does. NE needs a WR opposite Welker. Lloyd will also be 31 at the start of next season, so it makes more sense for him to go to a team whose championship window is right now.

Sure is nice selecting first out of all the 8-8 teams (bad SoS FTW) tho.

If Martin/DeCastro are gone Cards should trade down. Get receivers in FA; get moar pass rushers and line depth in the draft.

RayRay is ours baby. Good luck with Fisher

I kind of want the Cards to try and trade back to tail end of 1st round so they can recoup a 2nd round pick or a player...unless someone they love falls to them at their current spot.

Cards really need a solid #2 WR but not sure they'd over pay for a BLloyd etc.

A legit TE wouldn't hurt either.
Disagree re: Kolb. Ran super cold this year (first to get injured in a couple freakish ways, second to only have one game with the improved D [which he won against a decent team]).

RayRay

Agree w/trading down

They have decent TEs (even if they cut Heap; King was solid this year) and Roberts and Doucet are basically TEs given how many intermediate routes they run. Cards need a deeeeep threat to open the middle of the field for the aformentioned and limit some of the bracket coverage teams throw on Fitz constantly.

I think you can argue that there's a sample size issue with Kolb, but I'm curious if you can make a case that he can be a legit franchise QB. He's pretty consistently performed as the ~25th best QB in the league or so when he's played, and from the eye test, he doesn't really seem to have any pocket presence.

Well, in the Dallas game (particularly in the second half) he did IMO a very solid job reading the rush and escaping the pocket to make plays on the perimeter.

Skelton showed BETTER awareness, however he got stripped from behind a couple times and had his share of pocket breakdowns. His size helped him weather some arm tackles that Kolb succumbed to, but KK showed pretty good agility and mobility.

I can see Kolb with a healthy Williams/Wells backfield, one more solid WR weapon and an improved O-Line cracking the top 20, possibly top 15 QB list next year, a la one Alex Smith.

Lloyd has basically told reporters he wanted to go wherever Josh McDaniels went. He has ended up in NE again so I guess that's where he wants to go. Do NE want him tho? If not then maybe the hiring of Fisher will persuade him to sign with the Rams, he has already said on radio today that he loves the move. If we could lock Lloyd up then that would sort us out at WR a bit (maybe Clayton can be healthy!) and free us up to do something with the OL in the draft. It's a mess at this point, Jason Smith could be one of the first to go. Total bust.

I don't see why NE wouldn't want him. Surely he has to be an upgrade over Branch / Ocho at this point, and McDaniels obviously knows how to get the most out of him.

Has Jason Smith really been that bad? That's a damn shame, he was supposed to be the least likely to bust of all those OT prospects. (Meanwhile, Andre Smith quietly had a pretty good year at RT for the Bengals.)

I think you gotta take Kalil over Blackmon unless you find a stud LT elsewhere somehow.

Whooops. Misread the draft order. Swore someone said Skins with the 2nd pick or something. Yeah throw out that entire scenario except for Shanahan not taking RG3. Just don't think he'll do it.

Ahhh I know where I got it from on WalterFootball.com their Mock draft has the Redskins with the 2nd pick taking RG3. And, they have the Rams with the 6th pick in the draft.

Assuming a trade I would presume.

Unless Blackmon puts up crazy combine numbers to where he looks even better than advertised, they should go with Kalil. They desperately need a weapon on offense though. Someone that can take attention off of Steven Jackson.

LMAO, brandon try reading the FIRST word of a write-up.

TRADE!!! I've never predicted a trade in my mocks prior to this because deals seldom occurred in the top five. With the new CBA, however, there's a much greater chance that a transaction like this could happen.
I think there's a pretty good shot at the Skins, or another team, trading up to the #2 spot.

Any good/solid college stats sites? From simple to advanced, thankfull for any info. In return I will rank some players with my supersecret stats based predictor formular.

i might just ignore this thread as i don't think we actually have any picks to use
If I wasn't so lazy and if I had watched more college ball this season I'd do a pretend pick when the OAK pick is up this and next year to compare how I'd have done vs Palmer.

I see enough upside in Skelton that I might concider trading Kolb tbh. Bowe to Arizona would be sexy...Bowe+Fitz...omnomnom. Bowe to X would be pretty sweet for a bunch of teams imo...Bowe+Marshall

I guess DJax to Arizona would be legit. Fitz is kind of the supermentor of WRs with his academy and stuff, DJax somewhat of a headcase. Deep thread they need etc.

Cap spaces etc. though...google-fu
....

I have no clue how accurate they are but

I too think Kolb and Skelton are about equal in ability, but Skelton is younger, more durable, and seems to have more upside, so Arizona should play him imo.

Everyone projecting the Rams to trade down: it's definitely worth noting that the likeliest pick for us (Matt Kalil) went to USC, which is also where Jeff Fisher went to school. I think we're more likely to just keep it and take Kalil now that Fisher is in charge.

Yes, though I hope he's willing to restructure his deal and kick inside to one of the guard spots (with Saffold at RT and Kalil at LT).

Kolb trade value is pretty LOW imo and not reflective of true value.

If he treads the same tracks in his next 8 starts that he has in the prior 8 then obv go with Skelton.

nath,
why do you believe the rams are incapable of drafting a LT who then busts?

Why do you insist on trolling me with weird posts like this? Do you document everything I ever post so you can try to troll me if I'm ever wrong about something?

Asking a genuine question about one player + not believing that a guy who started at LT as a rookie can be called a bust after one season = "believing the rams are incapable of drafting a LT who then busts"

STAAAAA herp a derp derp

Dallas should be able to sign one semi-premium FA if we let Anthony Spencer go. Hopefully we ink a veteran CB then use the top of the draft to address DL/OLB/interior OL. The fact rookie CBs generally struggle and Claibourne/Kirkpatrick will be off the board make it even more paramount we find someone in free agency. Going to have to overpay someone. Oh well. Its a dire need.

Coples character concerns turn me off of him. I don't want a lazy **** on this team. Nick Perry is a bit raw but is an elite athlete. Maybe Upshaw? Will be a productive pro but think his upside is a bit lower. Also has a bit of Bama tard in him.

Any reasoning for believing this?

From drafttek:

Quote:
possibly the best tackle prospect since Orlando Pace in the 1997 NFL draft.

From walter:

Quote:
Kalil is the best non-quarterback in this class

From SI:

Quote:
Kalil didn't allow a sack at USC last season

From behindthesteelcurtain:

Quote:
Matt Kalil is the only tackle in the draft without any flaws to his game

From fftoolbox:

Quote:
The number one offensive line prospect is definitely Kalil

Also from fftoolbox(very impressive considering how solid Smith was his rookie year):

Quote:
Thinking back to the 2011 NFL Draft and OT Tyron Smith, the reason he played right tackle for Southern Cal is because of this guy right here: Matt Kalil.

From Todd McShay:

Quote:
Kalil is clearly the top offensive lineman in the board

I personally barely watch college football yet alone pay attention to college o-linemen. However, considering all this hype I think you need to provide some reasoning for saying Martin will be better.
