It depends on how many touches Leon is getting. You have to assume that Green and Leon are going to be the main guys. Some of it will depend of how well Washington recovers from a pretty brutal injury of course, but if he is back to getting his 8-10 touches/game, when you throw Green's touches in it won't leave many more than 6-8 carries a game for LT, although he could be used in teh recieving game as well. I don't think he is being brought in to take Thomas Jones's role, and would be surprise if he gets more touches than Washington or Greene.

With all of that said, it's really hard to dislike LT. I'm happy for him that he gets to close out his career on contender (hopefully he is not playing more than these 2 years). As others have said, he is going from one of the worst run blocking teams to the one the very best, so it should help him close out his career with more efficient numbers that he was putting up last season by a longshot. I didn't see what they are paying him but as long as it's not too much I like the move for the Jets. He can definitley help the young guys develope, and it's great to just have a versatile guy you know can hang on to the ball in case of injuries or fumblitis with their their younger backs.

I can't see him getting less carries than Washington. If I had to guess something like 12-15 touches a game for Tomlinson.

LT won't affect Washington very much. You can still pencil in Leon for his usual 8-10 touches per game + KR duties. It's entirely possible he yields a few carries to LT early in the season as he proves he's healthy, but over the season it shouldn't affect him.

The team is still acknowledging that Greene will be shouldering the load. Seems like a sure bet for around 15-20 carries per game. That would leave somewhere around 6-10 for LT (could fluctuate based on amount of short -yardage situations). I'd also expect the Jets to throw a little bit more in Sanchez's 2nd year and take some carries away from the RB's that way.

There's absolutely no way LT is getting 12-15 carries a game (at least not early in the season; could change if Leon gets hurt or Greene hits the sophomore slump). I think just about everybody, incl. LT, will acknowledge he's not that type of back anymore.

In more Jet news, Schefter says there's "no legs" behind any talk of the Jets wanting Brandon Marshall. Whew.

There's a decent chance Leon is gone. If he stays I like the LT deal, if he goes I hate it.

JaMarcus Russell was a no-show for the start of the Raiders' offseason conditioning program Monday.

Considering Russell's work ethic and track record, the real surprise would've been if he had reported on time. The program is voluntary, but Russell is facing a make-or-break year in Oakland and needs all the conditioning he can get. Charlie Frye and Bruce Gradkowski both showed up in the morning. One Raiders starter was quoted as calling the Russell situation "a horror show." Asked about Russell's attendance, another replied "don't hold your breath."

Has Jamarcus reached the Ryan Leaf plateau of embarrassment yet?

The fact that the Davis has still wanted him to be the guy there is could easily allow him to pass it soon, he is being given such a ridiculously long leash! How many games do you guys think the raiders win in that division with a healthy Bruce Grad. at the helm? Around 7 or 8?
03-15-2010 , 06:43 PM
Raiders were competitive last year... even with that jackass under helm. Could easily win 6-9 games with either Bruce or Charlie under helm imo.

5-11

30th by dvoa

29th by advancednflstats team efficiency

30th by point differential

i mean, this isn't what i would consider competitive.

They are already starting training that players are implicitly required to attend? The Super Bowl was barely a month ago, and football is a brutally draining sport. Jeez, I know they get paid alot, but the NFL has to be by far the worst of the major leagues to be a player in.

i wonder how heavily jamarcus influences that, they were certainly better with gradkowski, and its not like they are bereft of talent

Seahawks cut Deon Grant. This may have been due, but it's not as pleasurable as it was last year when they cut Russell.

they played every single team tough for the most part and their defense was on the field more than any other defense in the league. you try having that moron at QB and see how quickly your D runs out of gas.

if they played every single team tough they wouldn't have had a -182 point differential.

edit: lol i just added up defensive snaps per pff. raiders: 1096. niners: 1117. and the niners defense was really good while the raiders defense sucked. hmmm

Iggles trade a 4th rounder and Chris Clemons to the Seahawks for Daryl Tapp. ****. I liked Tapp and thought he was starting to come into his own.
03-16-2010 , 07:35 PM
Iggles already working out a long term deal with Tapp. They very likely fleeced the Seahawks here. I'm pissed.
03-16-2010 , 08:17 PM
wow what is carroll thinking

cole/tapp is a really really nice DE duo and will be for awhile
03-16-2010 , 08:43 PM
i don't think tapp is bad or anything but 4-3 defensive ends who struggle to get after the qb aren't that valuable.
03-16-2010 , 09:07 PM
He's only 25 years old. He's just before the peak of his career.
03-16-2010 , 09:30 PM
The Seahawks' fanbase is up in arms over this deal. I mean, Tapp isn't exactly playing like Kerney ever did in his best year, nor has he ever, but why trade him away for a guy in the twilight of his career who also doesn't get after the QB enough? A 4th round pick is not enough to make up the difference.

The Seahawks new front office has done nothing but pinch pennies this off season. They franchised Mare instead of giving him the long term contract he deserves. They assigned a mere 4th round tender to the team's most productive offensive lineman last year, Sims, rather than even a slightly higher tender to ensure keeping him around. They sign Baker rather than splurge for Watson, not that the TE situation was all that pressing. They pass on basically all the FAs worth considering in an uncapped year. They trade away Wallace for practically nothing. They cut Deon Grant, who might actually deserve to be cut if the team weren't in such dire straits elseeverywhere, creating an urgent need where there had only been an average one. And now they get rid of one of a half dozen players on the defense worth a damn last year (Mebane, Hawthorne, Hill, Curry sorta, Milloy, Reed, and Tapp are about the only guys who did anything) and get in return very little. I guess we'll see about the draft, but I have a feeling it's going to be a long, long season next season.
