Under appreciated, but McNabb must get the team over the hump and win a Superbowl.

Kolb is the future of the team IMO

I wish would could have at least got some value for him. Oh well, it was a great ride. Thanks for the memories LT.

why would you expect any value from a 30+ year old RB with a million miles on his legs and a horrible contract? he's lucky to be in the league next year and he better not mind splitting carries.

#2 in active carries for a RB, already #12 all time. So many carries.

NE would prob sign him for very cheap. HOU/CLE would prob sign him to big contracts given their past histories.

Seattle should probably be in that mix, too. Schneider isn't known to go after big-name UFAs, but Carroll is something of an unknown. It's no secret that Seattle will probably be shopping for a RB this offseason, although I think the most likely scenario is them picking up a flier in round 4 or 5. We'll see. If Ruskell were still at the helm in Seattle, you could bet that LDT would be on his way there.

Detroit is also likely to give him a look, given that Kevin Smith may not be ready for week 1.

if ruskell were still gm he would have already traded a first rounder for tomlinson

yeah, SEA seems alright too. I just listed the first 3 teams I thought of off the top of my head.

Houston- everyone has been saying it. Could be the goal line back/and backup, nice veteran pickup

Cleveland- They have Harrison, just released Lewis, could use a goal line back.

NE- If he wants a chance to win a title, wouldn't have to have primary role.

Does Cleveland really want another past-his-prime, short yardage running back? Or would they want a younger back with fresh legs from the draft for a cheaper price?

LT 2006 = greatest fantasy season ever

Panthers will let Peppers walk. Is he about to be the highest paid defensive player in history?

Houston's now on the record saying they're not interested.

pats have to be the favorite, best fit imo considering their current rb situation and his desire to go to a contender
02-23-2010 , 12:38 PM
Where does Peppers and Sharper wind up?
02-23-2010 , 12:39 PM
Why not Miami?-wrt Tomlinson
02-23-2010 , 12:57 PM
Peppers to redskins plz, Peppers + Carter + Haynesworth will be lol to watch for a while even though they will all be done in a soon anyways.

I'm sure Tomlinson would love to go the Patriots, but I doubt they are interested in him. Belichick should be smart enough to know Tomlinson offers very little, especially since they just made the exact same mistake with Fred Taylor last season.

Tomlinson is done. Name one RB who had a career worst season at age 30 then bounced back at 31.
02-23-2010 , 01:34 PM
Doesn't Tomlinson hate Belichick? He called him classless after that playoff game where the Pats danced on the Chargers logo after they won.
02-23-2010 , 01:48 PM
That was like 5 years ago, and they made up at the pro bowl when Belichick coached after losing to the Colts in the AFCGC.

Besides, guys hate other teams/players/coaches all the time then get over it real quick if they think it means money/rings.

I don't know if it was reported in this thread already, bu VJax is gonna spend 4 days in jail for DUI. Suspension looming?

I don't disagree with your point here, however SD's run blocking was so horrid that I think a lot of people *might* be thinking he has fallen off more than he has. Sproles was only getting like 3.6 ypc as well there, and he did miss several games due to injury for the first time in his career during the regular season. Also while sproles was a better option as recieving back, Tomlinson could still be an above average at catching balls out of the backfield if that became his roll again.

I am not saying that I expect him to become an above average starting quality back again... If I had to venture a guess I would say maybe he is currentley an above average #2 back on most teams. But when you factor in experience, helping younger RB's, and his rep. as a good locker room guy I think he could still be an asset for some contenders. Just to use a somewhat extreme anology, take Thomas Jones, a RB over 30 who doesn't seem to be on the decline yet.

People point to the fact that he got less touches earlier in his career and say he a "young 31", which may very well be true. Well he's running behind one of the top 3 o-lines in football, while LT is running behind one of the 3 worst (in terms of run blocking) From the games I saw this year, I think LT could have been an average starting back last year if he actually had holes to run through. Anyway, it will be interesting to see where he goes, there do not seem to be any good fits...

The Pats have too many RB's, I think they need to focus on improving elsewhere. The saints don't need more RB's unless they let Bush + either Bell or Thomas go, which seems unlikley. Maybe if the the Ravens let Willis go he would be a good guy to spell Ray Rice, so maybe that's an option? I'm suprised Houston said they aren't interested as they seem like the best fit by far. They don't have a single established elite back on that team, and the whole slew of RB's has had SERIOUS ball protection issues. Foster had a good game or two towards the end of the year but it seems like LT could be valuable on the field and with the development of their young backs. I would have said Atlanta would be a good fit to give Turner a few less carries, but Snelling has been an adequate backup and I don't know that they need him there... He could really sit on the market for a while.

V-Jax is definitely getting suspended. The only question is how long. Normally I'd guess 2 games, but the incident during the playoffs (while not resulting in an arrest) brought extra negative attention at a time when the NFL is supposed be showcasing its awesomeness.

I wouldn't be surprised if tarnishing the game during the playoffs draws an extra game, though Goodell would never explicitly state that as the reason because it would draw union ire.
