Maybe I'm not right................you may be right. He was traded for a 2nd round pick back in the day but that's before he was a top level guy....then he was traded last year for less but past his peak, obviously.

Nah, I thought it had escalated to the 2nd rd pick just on snaps, forgot about the playoffs provision. But his original trade is another good example- prime QBs don't get traded, backups with upside and veterans on the downside do, but its really hard to estimate what Cutler could/should go for since who can you honestly compare him to?

As a Redskins fan there is no way in hell I would trade Jason Campbell and a first round pick for Jay Cutler. Maybe Campbell and a second. Definitely Campbell and a third.

As a Dolphins fan, Id trade Pennington, Henne, and two first rounders for him. Saying no to Campbell + a first rounder is loltastic

The only other QBs I can think of that were released in their late primes are Warner and Garcia but Garcia was due to cap issues and Warner was due to injury issues and he had an adequete backup. Montana, McNair, etc. were obviously released passed there prime. When Trent Green and Gannon were released I don't think anyone expected to get results like teams got from them

Yeah, Lord knows there is nothing disappointing about being an Eagles fan.

Seriously though, if I'm trading cutler for Campbell + picks, the only reason Campbell is in the deal is to start for the first year while the rookie qb that I took with the redskins' first rounder learns the system.

It's like nobody in this thread watched Jay Cutler play last season. I saw every Redskins game and at least 9 Broncos games and Cutler looked downright bad in a bunch of them. Off the top of my head he sucked against Buffalo, Carolina, Oakland and Miami. And I think he did poorly in at least one game against KC.

Eh, this has been beaten to death in this thread already .. but anyone will look bad constantly playing from behind and working with 8 different running backs due to injury.

Culpepper fumbled more than Warner + Peterson. We can handle it.

Good thing you're just a fan, then.

This thread has quickly degraded into full-blown loltasticness.

Sure, by those refusing to acknowledge how insanely high Cutler's value is.

But the Broncos who have him don't seem to share the same value of him. Kinda weird that all you guys think he's god rediculous value yet they tried to trade him for Cassel who noone would even try to argue is really that valuable e/c KC and Pats fans. <devil's advocating>

McDaniels being stupid and wanting "his guy" doesn't change how we should interpret Cutler's value.

If you put every player in the NFL into a draft, I'd imagine cutler would be a top 10 pick.

Redskins hypothetically being stupid and wanting Cutler at all costs doesn't change how we should interpret Cutler's value, either.

You're doing it wrong.

How we are interpreting Cutler's value is determining what we hypothetically think the Redskins should give up.

If you consider age definitely (not in order)

AP
Mario Williams
Brady (assuming healthy)
Manning
Clady
Cutler
Fitzgerald
Rivers
Ryan
Big Ben
Brees
Haynesworth
Asomugha
Jared Allen
Calvin Johnson

Then the next tier would be Willis, Beason, Andre Johnson
