Yes, I know its a joke.

I said that on page one of this thread.

either

BB did Pioli a favor
BB did Cassel a favor
BB got fleeced
or BB needed to clear a ton of cap space for a move we have yet to learn about

imo
You really don't believe this was done out of favor, right?

Such a great deal for the Pats, they give up a LB almost retired and the 230th overall pick that performed exceptionally when needed for a 32nd pick and free up over 20M in cap room. Hello Julius Peppers.

ya im gonna guess this doesnt work out too well for the chiefs

I honestly thought Thigpen was pretty good the last 5-6 games of last season, especially factoring in the points made by the above poster.

if some team decided to sign a franchised player, they would be required to send two first round picks. the franchising team can trade the player for anything it wants, though.

ya i also like thigpen, and more importantly i dont really see cassel as an upgrade in any way at all. both are quite mobile with average arms, and cassel had a decently higher sack rate with a far better OL than thigpen. is vrabel really worth anything on a non BB defense?

2nd rounders are pretty dam valuable, terrible trade for kc

I believe it will be a 2 year $9million deal if the Broncos choose it to be.

"The contract also has escalators that could boost the value of the deal to $27 million over five years, but the deal also could be voided to two years, $9 million, reports Schefter."

So basically they´ll just release him after 2 years , cause you lose your ability to fly over football fields when turning 39.

Football is a beautiful game but a brutal business.

Falcons release hometown hero LB Keith Brooking.

Thanks for the memories, Keith.

Boley signs with NYG for 5 years $25 million (11 gtd)

Very pumped about getting Boley, getting Canty or Bernard looks to be the next goal.

Well, trading for Cassel is safer than taking some guy on the second day. We also have a tonnnn of cap space (and no one to spend it on), so I don't think it's too big of deal to pay him.I def liked Thigpen in the "Arrowspread" Offense though.

Vrabel is a veteran who will bring leadership to the Chiefs, and lord knows we need LBs especially since some genius decided we are going to run the 3-4. I'd say KC has two decent LBs in Vrabel and Derrick Johnson and then two huge holes to fill (hopefully not with Rocky Boiman and Pat Thomas ). Also, wtf is our defensive line going to look like? They say Dorsey (1s round pick last year!) is too small for nose guard and too slow for end. Hali is worthless without a premiere pass rusher on the opposite end. Turk McBride lol. I guess fat ass Tank Tyler is going to be our nose guard.

Idk when the last time a LB went top 3 and I would rather get Crabtree, but we will take Curry because of his great combine and our desperation for LBs

First DEN fires Shanny, then they consider trading one of the top young QBs for Cassell? lol http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/28/cutl...oit-tampa-bay/

The Broncos firmly maintain that they never intended to trade Cutler, that they were approached to make the trades.
So.. they got an offer and considered it before immediately saying no and this is a story?

considering 2 different teams were trying to trade for Cassell just to trade him to DEN in a 3 way, I'm guessing theres something there. Teams don't just randomly think "hey I wonder if DEN would want Cassell instead of the younger much better Cutler!"

also Cutler is upset about it, so yes I think there is something there.

I highly doubt they were ever looking to trade him. I imagine its exactly what they are saying.. that they would entertain the offers.

Also, Cutler would get worked up over even that.

I would be extremely shocked if it was more than a "Well, sure we'll consider it.. whats the offer?" type deal.

And I'm sure I would have heard something locally if there was any real thought of trading him.

thinking about it further, no

I was clearly one of the people who thought Cassel would fetch at least a 1st rounder. I was hoping for a 1st and more, would not have been surprised with just a 1st. he ended up fetching pick #34 which is essentially just that.

so yeah he went for less than I thought but not by miles

Pats now have their own 1st rounder, three 2nd rounders, and two 3rd rounders. no way they use all these on player picks this year, they will either trade back a year or up this year.

they freed up a ton of cap space which is always usefull - and there was probably urgency to free up cap space now so they can be more active in the FA market

I think the trade was fine for the Pats. I also think it was fine for the Chefs.

I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't think anything would be done for favor as that would be absurd.

i don't think this was a bad deal for the patriots, but i'm not all that thrilled about losing vrabel who has been a part of the core defensive team forever

I'm pretty sure the Cowboys have nobody on the entire roster who can play safety other than Ken Hamlin...and I don't mean play well...I mean literally suit up and stand on the position on the field. I don't hate this trade, because moving Henry to safety seemed like a potential disaster anyway, but they must have some kind of idea of how they are going to fill that hole.
