FSU doesn't have near the athletic budget of the big SEC schools. Saban makes almost as much himself as FSU's entire staff.

Bud's pretty dialed in, so I'd assume some truth here.

He has made the point that FSU does have a tiny/newish donor base relative to the SEC and that's why he thought Jimbo was maybe going to jump to Texas. Even if they can match a specific salary, there's broader resource issues where FSU is going to lag behind.
