How the **** is Penn State Ohio State a noon game

Yeah I already know the "answers"

But seriously how is that a noon game?

So the coaches are technically reviewing tapes and not scouting in person, or something like that.

Every sentence he said is like "we did not ILLEGALLY steal signals" and "we did not DIRECT that action" etc

i.e. Yeah, somebody took actions to steal signals, but it was "of their own volition" and "not technically illegal" or something
Makes no sense. A scout can watch tape of a game but not buy a ticket?

not sure you're being obtuse for the lulz but

viewers aren't able to see every waking second of the sidelines during televised games

I know nothing about this topic other than what I've read in the last 24 hours, but apparently the rule came about because teams used to send scouts to other teams' games to scout and record signals, and that was expensive, so it was creating a big disadvantage for the poor schools vis a vis the rich schools, so they banned in person scouting.

So yes, that is exactly the difference - anybody can watch a tape, but you have to spend money to watch games in person.

Which of course seems laughably inconsistent with the fact that rich schools nowadays have about ten bazillion advantages over poor schools, but it did make some first-order sense when it was implemented.

I believe I also read that using electronic equipment to record signals is also also illegal, both during a current game and also a scouting game. So if the road scouts were video recording the sideline, that's even more illegal (and actually seems like a real rule break not just a dumb rule that shouldn't apply anymore) and also if they were recording signals in-game and trying to decipher them, that's illegal.

At least it's basically the only meaningful game on at noon. The only other contender playing is OU -18

if it's proven Michigan illegally scouted teams they've beaten this season those games should obv be forfeited. prob won't happen but doesn't mean it shouldn't

prob need some pressure from losing coach(es) on their schedule (again if info proving this happened comes out in the near future) and also some talking head media types to keep the news on the front burner

edit: just read that the NCAA is investigating allegations that stem from before the 2023 season, so i suppose UM may be able to play out this season without any issues regarding this alleged cheating

You will trust that the NCAA's decision based on its investigation is correct and without bias?

I’m sure every school that is in contention sends people out to scout other games.
Main difference is random dude in Ga or Alabama knows a lot about football.

Fox introduced the Big Noon Saturday window for its college football coverage in the 2019 season; the network had aired occasional noon kickoffs during the season before (including, after having acquired the Big Ten's primary football rights in 2017, the Michigan–Ohio State rivalry),[3] and they were among Fox's top-viewed games in the 2018 season. Fox has positioned the timeslot as featuring one of its flagship games of the day.[4] Fox made that decision in order to boost their ratings by avoiding competition with CBS that has their featured SEC game of the week in the 3:30 p.m. timeslot, and ABC with their featured game in primetime.[5] Big Noon Kickoff was henceforth introduced as a pre-game show for the new window.
Cliffs: Fox started putting their best game at noon in 2019 and got great ratings against the other spare to fair game on at that time, so now it's a staple.

I don't understand why having a big game on at noon is even a problem tbh.

Players and fans can't consider themselves and their team Prime Time if they're playing before people have even finished lunch.

I can see why night owls don’t like noon starts especially if they are on West Coast

But I’m west coast and like it. No waiting.

For a big game I might go someplace and get some steak and eggs and be drunk by 10:30am. Great fun

Or if feeling lazy might snag a few egg McMuffins and relax on couch

No bad options

Since 2005, there have been 11 games with a Vegas Total lower than 35 points. Iowa has played in 7 of them.

Read that the O/U for Minnesota-Iowa is down to 30.5 and I'm having a hard time imagining a world in which the over hits.

Since this is a lost season for Minnesota I'm actively rooting for 1 loss Iowa to win the West.

On top of everything it’s supposed to be ~22 mph winds which could really throw off those passing attacks.

Minnesota-Iowa total being 30.5 gives me great hope that the November 24th game Iowa at Nebraska can reach a 29.5 total. Let's ****ing go.

being down 41-0 at home in the 3rd quarter can't be a fun feeling if u r a fan of the home team.

*checks notes* as someone whose team did this frequently last year I can confirm it's not a fun feeling.
