Why would I ever complain about foul calls? Have you ever watched Duke play? We're allowed to hand check and don't even have to be set to take charges. Its awesome baby.

Miami giving Duke some problems early.....god Kelly is a fugly SOB.
02-13-2011 , 08:37 PM
Yeah Miami tends to play Duke well, but can never put a complete game together it seems.

All-American debate to hopefully stray from Ohio State-Wisconsin/variance/luck chatter that is clogging this thread. Think it's safe to say Jimmer, Sullinger, and Nolan are 3 locks. Derrick Williams should be, but not sure if he gets the pub and I'm sure most people who don't religiously watch cbb even know the name.

Thoughts on the 5th? Jordan Taylor, JaJuan Johnson, Kemba...
02-13-2011 , 08:46 PM
Kemba should be 1st team imo.

You seem to have forgot Harrison Barnes in the lock section:

At least lists and projections are catching up to real world, it's likely 50% of the top 10 best players in the country this year are frosh and if it wasn't for pending lockout, there might not be one upperclassmen in the nba draft lottery

Kemba Walker is barely first team BE, let alone nationally. He can't hang onto two great games in Maui forever

AA right now should be

Nolan Smith, Duke
Jared Sullinger, Ohio State
Jimmer Fredette, BYU
Derrick Williams, Arizona
Jordan Hamilton, Texas

I imagine a lot of people would put Marcus Morris on instead of Williams b/c they'd want to represent Kansas but that is bs.

2nd team should be

Morris, KU
Kemba Walker, UConn
Austin Freeman, Georgetown
JaJuan Johnson, Purdue
Kawhi Leonard, SDSU

Singler gonna be 2 teams too high when they announce the AA. Thats a guarantee.

honorable mention probably. counting kyrie I think he is the 4th most valuable and 3rd best player on Duke this year.

Kelly and Cowher's daughter have been dating for a long while. Played a lot in his decision to go to Duke IIRC.

Singler probably deserves to be like a 4th team AA and he'll end up on 2nd team.

who is the 3rd most valuable?

Nolan, Kyrie...obviously and then? mason, miles??.....
02-13-2011 , 10:05 PM

pic is 3 years old but it's all I could find after a quick search.

I don't think Singler should be second team, but think he will end up there. 10 guys atm who deserve it more than Singler:

Nolan, Jimmer, Sully, Derrick Williams, Jordan Hamilton, Marcus Morris, JaJuan, Jordan Taylor, Kawhi, Marshon Brooks prob deserves some love.

Didn't even list Kemba and although he's come down to earth, I think his non-conf games will be enough to get him to at least 2nd team.

lol @ 4th best valuable though. Nolan, Singler, Irving >>>>> everyone else on Duke's roster.

I think Mason. I thought about it when Kyrie went down and I think losing Mason would have hurt even more than that. I just believe that the lack of depth there and the ok production he gives is enough to make him more important than Singler.

We were able to overcome a negative contribution from Singler in the UNC game and still beat a decent team. I think he does a lot for the team, but we could replace his scoring with a few extra points from a bunch of guys and Kelly and the Plumlees could each help on the glass a little bit more plus Hairston could give us a few valuable minutes in his place.
02-13-2011 , 10:27 PM
I see what you are saying about Mason's value to the team, but I think you picked a bad example with the UNC game. Mason was pretty ineffective inside, didn't put up any big numbers, and the UNC big guys dominated for most of the game. Nolan and Seth's shooting saved Duke.
02-13-2011 , 10:35 PM
Yea, Mason's defense was bad but he tends to get offensive rebounds that turn into points. He is very effective at finding the open guy after getting offensive boards and I dont think we can replace that if we lost him. He also runs the floor well and takes away some fast break opportunities for the opposition by contesting shots on the break.

I think Kyle's shooting and scoring can be picked up by all the guards + Kelly. The Plumlees, Kelly, Hairston, and Dawkins would probably find a way to get an extra rebound each per game. Defenses would still be spread out bc of shooters on the floor. We might lose a little on defense, but I think we'd counter that by going small and playing faster.

needs more Jordan Taylor

I think Id take Jordan Taylor over everyone but Jimmer and Sullinger. Its obv completely reasonable to not have him in your top 10, but I have a big man crush on him.
02-14-2011 , 01:22 AM
Kawhi Leonard though..
02-14-2011 , 09:03 AM
