The Sixers took on like $13 million in contracts for two seasons (Landry and Thompson). They got Nik Stauskas, pick swap in 16 and pick swap in 17, and an unprotected 2019 1st round pick.
From a cost/benefit perspective it might have been one of the best trades of the past decade. The Celtics got more in return in their trade but they also had KG and Pierce to trade. The Sixers gave up nothing.
Not that this matters, but from a business perspective, Hinkie saved the Sixers ownership a lot of money. They would always be at the minimum during his three years, but he traded for salary at the deadline to reach the minimum. And, there was a loophole in the CBA where you only have to pay the player for the games remaining in the season. So he usually saved 1/2 the money he traded for. Usually resulted in saving the Sixers owners $3 million/year. Considering how well he did from an asset and a cost minimization perspective the owners really ****ed him over.
