You had KG, Sam Cassel (horrible), Fredd Hoiberg (lol), Latrell (+ slightly), Hassell, Maden, Ervin Johnson (36), Trent, Szcerbiak (sucks), Oliver Miller, Candy Man and Troy Hudson. Obviously some + defenders there but KG was by far the key.

so KG was better on defense and carried a much bigger load offensively...what is the argument here?

there is also a lot of variance in 1 year sample sizes, the twolves year after the MVP year were 15th in DRat, the year before the MVP year they were 16th

McHale's team DRat the 2 years before 86-87 (I say that because the celtics fell off a cliff the year after and McHale was never the same after 86-87 due to ****ing up his ankle in the playoffs) was 1st and 5th.

he was far far far less efficient than McHale and easily a worse offensive player than McHale
06-03-2011 , 12:24 PM
KG's TS would have been >.70 on that C's team in McHale's role

Sprewell
Cassell
Hassell
Hoiberg
Madsen
Trent

vs

Bird
Parish
Johnson
Ainge
Sichting
Roberts

lol

lol no, he didn't even put up a TS% higher than 58.8 in any of his 4 years with the celtics which was a lesser roll on offense than mchale had (granted kg was past his prime but in his 1st year with the celtics he wasn't that far off his prime at all)

kevin mchale retired after playing 30k minutes.

going into his first boston year, a kg "not far off his prime at all" had played 35.5k minutes.
06-03-2011 , 12:41 PM
also McHale scored 21.1 ppg in the playoffs on 62.8 TS% while playing on a broken foot that year

kg scored 24.3 ppg on 51.3 TS% while being fully healthy in the playoffs that year

fwiw McHale is one of the super rare players who actually has better #s for the playoffs than his reg season #s for his career.....kg's #'s plummet a ton come playoff time compared to his reg season #s for his career

god such aids
06-03-2011 , 12:42 PM
are you really trying to argue mchale is a better than kg?

who cares about the minutes? if u actually watched the games his 1st year in boston u would have seen KG was not far off from his prime at all. Dude was also only 31, that is tail end prime age

Yeah Victor, watch the games bro.

Peak Perkins v. peak Bargs - who ya got TZ?
06-03-2011 , 01:39 PM
Bargs kinda sucks on both sides of the ball. Perkins when healthy only sucks bad on O. I guess I take Perkins.

Getting rid of Walsh isn't a bad move in a vacuum but they'll surely botch replacing him. Walsh had a good eye for talent but never really struck me as all that bright.
06-03-2011 , 02:57 PM
as much as i ripped on Amare in the past. I will say I respect what he did. even though he was looking at is selfishly and wanted max $$. he was the firs tto sign and didn't give a **** about the others. he said I am going to make my own path and he didn't give a **** about what anyone thought.

Whats left on mikes contract?
