Doesn't Stevenson already do this pretty well? (i guess he hasn't been playing since BooBWAAA has been back) And Stevenson shoots better?

Yeah I don't get it either, I mean, he should never see a minute behind Roddy, Stevenson, Peja, Marion.

Brewer would be perfect on da bulls imo. Take Bogans/Ronnie Brewer's minutes. He's probably better than both those guys.

Considering you added 2 all-stars, of course this team is miles better.

What is the point of this exercise THAKID? Seems like you're just spouting inane crap and the discussion stemming from it has also been brutal.

Hollinger mentioned Anaheim could be a serious landing spot in the 2012 sweepstakes (D12, DWill, CP3) given their cap space, youth, and market. Thoughts?

I live about 10 from the Honda Center, and that would be just freaking sick.

The rest of their schedule is pretty dang favorable overall.

Eh, I disagree. 1-3 would be bad. 2-2 is expected. I'll take 2-2 or better at even money fwiw.

Edit: sorry, too late, ATL game started already.

Which means you live...how far from the Staples Center? Like 40 miles tops? How "sick" could it possibly be for you to get a third team in your vicinity?

This is coming from someone who lives 250+ miles from the nearest team, so yeah, I get a little bitter when I hear stuff like this.

Well to be fair, I hate the Lakers and Donald Serling is the nut low... but at least I get to see 4+ Nugs games a year.

I've been thinking a lot about possible NBA contraction lately. I've become convinced ridding the league of 6 teams and operating as a 24 team league is the way to go for maximum entertainment/profitability, even if this would mean no more Milwaukee Bucks. Thinking like this, I've divided the teams into certain categories(teams in no particular order within categories).

Teams that Absolutely would never be contracted

1. LA Lakers
2. Boston Celtics
3. New York Knicks
4. Chicago Bulls
5. Miami Heat
6. Dallas Mavericks
7. Portland Trailblazers
8. San Antonio Spurs

Teams really unlikely to be contracted

1. Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Utah Jazz
3. Orlando Magic
4. Oklahoma City Thunder
5. Denver Nuggets
6. Philadelphia 76ers
7. New Jersey Nets
8. Phoenix Suns
9. Golden State Warriors
10. Houston Rockets
11. LA Clippers

Possible Contraction Targets

1. Indiana Pacers
2. Toronto Raptors
3. Detroit Pistons
4. Washington Wizards
5. Charlotte Bobcats
6. Atlanta Hawks
7. Sacramento Kings

Top Contraction Targets

1. New Orleans Hornets
2. Milwaukee Bucks
3. Minnesota Timberwolves
4. Memphis Grizzlies

Thoughts on these categories?

what are you basing this off of? are you taking into account owners, stadiums, fan support, or just the size of the market or what?

attempting to take into account all of the above, weighting more towards market/fan support/financial viability.

my gut says to stick the kings and bobcats in the bottom group

edit: but with the maloof brothers, they should just move to lv before they get contracted

Kings earned a spot up because of the possible move to Anaheim they have lined up and Charlotte because MJ is their owner. Otherwise, I think those two and my bottom 4 would be the clear 6 to contract with Detroit possibly in the mix.
03-02-2011 , 09:03 PM
I dont care who the hawks draw in the first round, I'm betting against them for the series and every game against the spread. They ****ing suck
03-02-2011 , 09:04 PM
Toronto?
03-02-2011 , 09:04 PM
Atlanta, Washington, Toronto, Indiana should almost be their own tier of f'ed but prob not bad enough that they'd really end up contracted.
03-02-2011 , 09:18 PM
I can't see the Pistons getting contracted unless the league wanted to go to like 16 teams

You may be right. My bias towards thinking Detroit isn't viable as a major market anymore might be weighing too heavily.
03-02-2011 , 09:25 PM
The hawks could get contracted and like 12 people in atlanta would care. Hell, they could take the Thrashers with them into oblivion
03-02-2011 , 09:26 PM
Yeah, on further look it looks like I was dead on on the 4 teams I said were the top targets, but a little off on the possible other targets. Seems like Indiana, Charlotte, Sacramento, and Atlanta would be the next 4 most likely targets.
