No. Congrats on subsidizing hedge fund execs, Milwaukee totally couldn't use that money for education, infrastructure, or community development.

basically anything shorting pacers lines in the next few months before people realize who monta ellis really is is going to be very valuable.

not sure if it's been posted in here but lebatard spoke with the van gundy's together for about an hour and it was tremendous

of note, jeff says he interviewed for both the pelicans job and the nuggets job recently (not sure if this was known)

anyway, its worth a listen - http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=13312608

Yay, Scott Walker continues to slash benefits to try to break the working man, but at least he made sure a great arena deal got pushed through for a guy he hired for his campaign!

I do hate Scott Walker that's for sure

subsidized arenas are like your city 'winning' the olympics or the WC. badnews if you actually give a **** about silly things like the city budget.

I think Tyler Johnson can really really play

Cliched 'understands the game' but I always see that guy making the right play at the right time - not like he's Derek Jeter or Robert Horry out there but plays in a way a coach would love and is almost uncritiqueable.

I'd pay him triple, at least, what I'd pay Delly

I'm surprised Vivek hasn't hired you.

The team would be a lot ****ing better if he had.

Vivek seems like the kind of person who would try to hire Becky Hammon as a head coach at some point in the future, but offer the sort of non-supportive environment that might make it a wise choice for her to turn down the job.

I predict Nath would have a tremendous first season winning executive of the year and any other award possible only to see the organization fall apart on questionable moves leaving Nic trying to defend his brother against random and unrelenting attacks from his friends and acquaintances.

Haters just be jealous.

When Jordan scooped up the Bobcats in 2010, he inherited a capped-out roster trapped in mediocrity. His goal, Polk recalls: get Charlotte into the East’s top four, a process that would take “five or six years.”
He still has a year left!

Don't forget the Internet Hot Take Artists writing about how my moves for the team must suck because I'm a douchebag, which they can tell from a couple of photos. And how even the moves I make that do work don't really work, because I didn't intend for them to work the way they did, because I'm a douchebag.

lowe has a great habit of building up nearly everyone he interviews, while also making it clear when they've done dumb things (but without being insulting).

That said, Charlotte's front office seems pretty dumb/bad. The rationale for picking Kaminsky is literally "he's old and not a **** up" because Noah Vonlol has apparently scared them off picking young players. Sure Hornets. Picking lol-upperclassmen-leadership-winner types continually has worked out so well for you in the past. Adam morrison, emeka okafor, ray felton... All three were top five picks, all relative busts. Could throw Sean May in there as well i guess (first round bust).

Mostly Charlotte has been completely unable to draft any sort of anybody that will make a difference. They blew three consecutive top 5 picks as detailed above. Since then they've had

#2 Emeka Okafor
#5 Ray Felton
#13 Sean May
#3 Adam Morrison
Pick #8 traded for two years of Jason Richardson, which was actually pretty good
#9 DJ Augustin
#20 Alexis Ajinça
#12 Gerald Henderson
#9 Kemba Walker
#2 MKG
#4 Cody Zeller
#9 Noah Vonleh
#9 Frank Kaminsky
#19 pick (jared dudley) traded for PJ Hairston
#22 pick (tobias harris) traded him for josh mcroberts

that's 15 first round picks, with 12 of the 15 being lottery picks. They got basically one ~all-star season out of those 11 picks, and it was the jason richardson season before he left charlotte. That many picks and getting that little is just brutal.

Yeah Jordan has really propelled Charlotte into excellence
07-28-2015 , 04:38 PM
Emeka was a v good player for a while.

Felton, although clearly below CP3 and Deron, was a fine pick. He was a solid player for a while before he became really fat.

Kemba def was value for 9.

Can't close the door on MKG or Vonleh yet.

Zeller looks like an NBA player.

Their drafting hasn't been that bad really.

i don't think Ellis matters that much, the real issue is going to be people learning all too well who Ian Mahinmi and Jordan Hill are.
07-28-2015 , 05:44 PM
DJ Augustin over BroLo (~every mock had him going 9) and Ammo are their most egregious sins imo

Evthing else I think is largely defensible

Don't know what happened w/ Sean May. I know he was fat but those guys still succeed sometimes (especially then) and in his second year he had by far the most minutes of his career and had a 19.1 PER

If anything they cut bait with some decent players too early: Brandon Wright being a prime example
07-28-2015 , 05:48 PM
Didn't they actually call Brook Lopez to tell him they were selecting him, then changed their minds last-second and picked Augustin instead?
07-28-2015 , 06:14 PM
lol never heard that anecdote

I hope it was more 'if you're there we're picking you' predraft stuff than literally draft day moments before
07-28-2015 , 06:25 PM
Scratch that, I found a source but not sure if it's confirmed:

Indeed, "someone" (Larry Brown) did something that permitted the Nets to have a shot at Lopez. After the eighth pick, the Bobcats told Lopez's agent he was their pick. Then, Brown begged Michael Jordan to take a point guard instead. Lopez sat down and D.J. Augustin stood up.
