What good free agents are left? Lance, Wade, Bledsoe? Anyone else?

The league isn't stupid, there's no point to negotiating a salary cap to depress salaries if you're going to let people go around it.

Which is, jeez, they weren't one guy away.
I dont know if giving up is the same thing as thinking neither is ready yet. which i think is true

Can't be so deliberate obviously

I believe the Sixers and whichever of Dallas/Houston doesn't get Parsons are the only teams with real cap room, though.

Year older year better. Couple solid additions too.

Pistons and Suns too. But they both have RFAs that should get big deals.

There's a few reasons I actually like PP > than Ariza for the Zards.

1) a lot of the creating duties fall on Walls shoulders on this team. Pierce May be worse in a vacuum, but he is certainly the superior creator.

2) the nets got off to a slow start last year but were able to turn it around despite losing their best player for the season. They were able to do this bc of their ability to go small. They would not have been able to do this if Pierce wasn't able to play the 4 well, specifically on D.

IMO, the Zards absolute ceiling next year will be surrounding Wall, an amazing penetrator who can find open shooters with ease, with as many shooters as possible. With that in mind the best lineup for them should be wall-beal-webster-pierce-nene. A wall/nene (great passing big) PnR with 3 good-great 3pt shooters is pretty close to unstoppable. Again, while Ariza might be > in a vacuum! I don't think he's as good at Pierce at playing the 4.

Yeah don't think giving Marvin a two year deal means they give up on Vonleh who has never played a game yet, come on.

They need to fill their roster with someone.

Pierce is too old now.

I think this is the season where he falls off the cliff and collects his paychecks.

Geoff,

Gortat lead the team in WS last season and just got a monster contract. That lineup will not happen much. Also PP defending 4's would be worse than Ariza doing it. Agree about creation, but Ariza>>PP for them.

Richard Jefferson, still in the league
07-13-2014 , 04:46 PM
how dead is rjeff? he seems like a reasonable backup 3 for the vet min

With Luol Deng headed to Miami I'd say Cavs, Bulls, Pacers & Heat all better than Knicks right now. Raptors, Nets, Wizards & ATL debatable

lol doubt Knicks are better than last year and even if, it'll be by a small margin

Phil probably told Melo he can take 20 games off this year
07-13-2014 , 04:56 PM
Knicks could be okay. I really believe last year Woodson was incredibly harmful. Phil and Fish could possibly squeeze like 44 wins out if things go right.

Dogs to playoff though.

so Rockets match Parsons right?

They got what 9-10M in cap still? Even if his deal sucks value wise, you can't get great value on every deal. All of their other players are pretty nice values and re-signing him will barely put them over the cap. There is no one else this offseason to really spend the 8-10 on.

as a mavs fan i say no

They could use the 8-10, then match Parsons. Really seems like they should've kept Lin (and the picks) if they aren't going to use that space + match Parsons to make a run this year.
07-13-2014 , 05:27 PM
They have like 7 hours to match. Who is out there worth 8-10 million? I guess just overpay someone is better than nothing.
07-13-2014 , 05:28 PM
They still have to worry about bevs next year, and they are paper thin at pg/backup bigs. I think matching would be bad because it caps them out and I don't think the cp or ArizA deals will net assets. They would essentially be capping themselves out for the near future and have a worse team than last year.

They should try to get Brandon wright/Felton from Dallas in exchange for letting cp walk imo.
07-13-2014 , 05:28 PM
yeah if they could do it over again I'm sure they keep Lin but really wanted to make sure they didn't mess up the Bosh situation.

They could use the 8-10 but considering Parsons will be an overpay and there really isn't anyone left to get I'm not sure what they would use the 8-10 on. Not really many UFAs left.

I don't know why you guys are ragging on the Ariza deal so much. That deal is fine with the inflationary cap environment. Bev is next year as well.

Can give guys 1yr deals and have $ for him next year.
