Oh memories of being a DJ - after Clipse I would ramp it up and then go with my DJ Shadow Organ Donor / Wu-Tang Pinky Ring mash up. Oh snap, yo - gotta find my old mixtapes.

why do you need a round robin to establish home court? that is what the regular season is for, no?
It's not that you need the round robin to establish home court as much as you need it to keep the top teams occupied if you're going to give out byes. It's one thing to have byes in football where it's only one game, but if you have one team not play for two weeks while a 7-game series happens, then they're going to get really rusty and they won't be playing anywhere near their best basketball when the next round starts. If they're going to play, there needs to be something on the line so homecourt is a natural carrot for the winner.

I'm starting to remember my plan better though. It would be like this. Eliminate conferences and divisions altogether. The top 5 teams in the NBA at the end of the regular season go play in the European round robin. This does a lot to grow the game internationally as well as keep them occupied while the 1st round of the playoffs happens. Meanwhile, teams 6-11 have playoff series like normal. That would be some combination of Utah, Dallas, New Orleans, San Antonio, Portland, and whichever one of Denver and Houston doesn't qualify for the round robin.

Then, when the five teams play, not only does the top team get homecourt guaranteed throughout the playoffs, but the bottom team loses their bye and has to play the winner of the last-chance play-in which consists of teams 12-15 playing 3-game series. That would leave Philadelphia, Miami, Phoenix, and Atlanta all fighting for the last playoff spot this year. The winner of the play-in series faces the last-place team from the round-robin in another 3 game series to qualify for the quarterfinals along with the round-robin winners and the 1st round playoff winners.

I know it's too complicated to ever happen, but it would lead to a lot more competitive matchups and a lot more excitement IMO. It would also still be less complicated than the college football postseason which does pretty well revenue-wise.

Kobe gets to narrate his own documentary? Spike is a hack.

Also, since there would often be ties in the round robin, you would just use regular season record to break as the automatic tiebreaker. Thus, a team like Cleveland would have a great shot at winning the tiebreak at 3-1 whereas Denver would almost certainly have to go 4-0. Likewise, 1 win for the Lakers would almost certainly be enough to keep them out of the 3-game series with the play-in winner.

I'm not going to count the brackets as votes in case people thought their brackets should be what they thought was gonna happen. 14. seed mmbt0ne looking strong up 3-0 so far.

edit: just got kc's vote

greear/kyro and victor/isura only matches tied up at 2

This might be a repost, but for anyone who has followed the very interesting (imo) work on SPM over at B-R, they just released the Point Guard list. (Interesting, no Isaiah)

http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=1986

Some thoughts on this installment:

Stockton, Magic and Kidd are the only real stand-outs. There is a greater disparity in peak years and bad years at the PG position than any other position (in relation to their SPM statistic)

Looking at Isaiah, he only had a PER of 20 or greater 3 times in his career, which is pretty shocking considering Stockton did this 16 years in a row and they played in the same era.

Neil Payne is pretty much saying he thinks Zeke is one of the most overrated players of the era, while trying to be nice about it.

How did Riverman even end up with that many posts ITT? I'm assuming trolling on Sundays when a big game was on, but I don't remember a single post of his.
