Man, the bracket idea basically ensures that we will get to 50k next year though, I'm going to be making an extra effort to get a high seed next year. F facing anatta in the second round.

I know its not huge news, but does nobody really have an opinion on Flip coaching in Washington?
04-14-2009 , 12:41 AM
and in particular would you rather have him or Avery(who was the Wiz #2 choice apparently)?
04-14-2009 , 12:42 AM
Cald loses points from me in the voting for making me worry that Portland actually did control their own destiny.
04-14-2009 , 12:42 AM
flip seems like a much better fit than avery for the wiz
04-14-2009 , 12:43 AM
Also, this Portland game should be great.. Portland will want it, obviously.. and Nugs want to clinch the 2 seed and also lock up their first 55 win season ever. Should be a great game.
04-14-2009 , 12:44 AM
lol screw you guys

good jazz win. a win finishes them at 49 wins, pretty sad they dont reach the 50 win milestone, hornets got raped. as it stands:
utah have tiebreak over dallas, new orleans
new orleans have tiebreak over dallas

hornets 49-32
mavericks 49-32
jazz 48-33 (sigh)

tomorrow jazz @ lakers (lakers should be resting... ;/ )
Wednesday rockets @ mavericks (rockets want the 3rd seed)
hornets @ spurs (spurs want HCA too)

no matter how you slice it, the jazz NEED to win, or they play LA, flatout.

if both other teams lose (really possible) than we parachute to 6th. basically, it's up in the air, but if they lose tomorrow, it's all for naught, and we lose in 5 in the playoffs.

for those interested:
denver 54-27
houston 53-28
portland 53-28
san antonio 52-28*

spurs are up 30 (lol) @ goldenstate, so im assuming they, too, will finish @ 53 wins. all relevant games (those 4 teams) play out wednesday. if the jazz lose, the 1v8 seed is set, nothing else is.

as mentioned, rockets @ mavs
hornets @ spurs
nuggets @ trailblazers

if denver wins, they lock up the 2nd seed. if they lose, then that means they finish with the same # of wins as portland. let's look at tiebreakers: (the west race is fascinating)

Denver season series:

if they lose to the tblazers (if they win this is irrelevant) they finish 2-2 (they're up 2-1 right now) but will have 35ws vs conference, portland will have 32 so they have tiebreak
houston they're 1-3 so houston has tiebreak
san antonio they're 2-1 they have tiebreak

so, a loss vs trailblazers + rockets win means they finish in the 3rd spot.

houston:
-as noted, have tiebreak over nugs, so a win and denver loss gives them the 2nd spot
-vs san antonio are 2-2. both have 35 wins v conference, so if they both win, im not sure who has the edge.
-vs portland have 2-1 edge, so have the tiebreak. so if they both win (or both lose) they get the nod.

san antonio:
-as noted, do not have tiebreak vs denver and im not sure vs houston
-vs portland are 1-3, so they lack the tiebreak

basically, im betting that rockets win @ mavs, hornets lose @ spurs (im hoping my jazz bump to the 6th, basically) and nuggets lose @ portland. if this happens:
1st lakers
2nd rockets
3rd nuggets
4th portland
5th spurs
(really not sure about that LOL)
6th jazz
7th hornets
8th mavs

man started the bracket but it was too hard i try again later. i cant argue with tuc or kidcolin over the great one btw and always have love for jmill and will refrain from a 6 rebirth penalty for you should u chose them just to show im a good sport and not the "wrathful god diva" like they said in Dhamma Magazine last month and no it doesnt look like anatta will win Yogin of the Year i mean his power forward gets a knee injury and external form springs forth from the Mind so yeah its my bad and despite my attainments i mean kg hurt is pretty big fail (success and failure is empty btw)

"Shawn Marion's layup with 21 seconds left made it 96-94, and with Tapscott trying frantically to call timeout, the Wizards' Juan Dixon threw an upcourt pass out of bounds to give the Raptors the opportunity for the game-winner."

Say it aint so Assani.

Remember all those years the 2nu2 lost to the Spurs, who then went on to win the title? Just sayin...
04-14-2009 , 12:47 AM
great thing about the race is the matchups wont be known until the last regular season game. wow. when is the last time that could be said? only thing that will be known is IF the jazz lose they WILL play the lakers.

Since it looks like the series will happen - gonna bump this

It cost me last year, but if the Mavs don't have to face the Lakers in the 1st round, I will be looking to bet them again, so be ready. Too bad they can't play the Hornets again...

Juan understands what it takes to get Ricky Rubio on the Wizards. A Rubio/Dixon backcourt would probably be the greatest PG/SG tandem of all time. What is currently the best PG/SG tandem of all time in everyone's mind?

curious to hear more reasoning behind this if you care to say publicly...

Deron/Ronnie probably.

Would bet a lot of money this doesn't happen. Jazz should just be hoping they get to play Denver in a 2/7 matchup. Also, until that post, it didn't occur to me how easy it would be for New Orleans to drop to the 8 seed. I think the possibility of having to face NO in the first round should be enough to get the Lakers to at least try tomorrow even if they'll still be resting their starters a decent amount.

Would way rather play Portland/Houston than New Orleans. Kidd gets so consistently pwned by Paul that it's ridiculous.

Flip is a terrible coach, period. Best backcourt duo has to be Isiah/Joe D.
