why is Adam Morrison not playing?
02-27-2009 , 02:00 AM
LOL now he is in. Man, he looks slow as **** out there.
02-27-2009 , 02:19 AM
GG lakers, Morrison was the difference tonight
02-27-2009 , 02:27 AM
btw I think the Rockets will get a first round home series and Tmac will finally get out of the first round

I've been informed by the Basketball Jones that comparing Mike D'Antoni to "Mr. Pringle" is actually "old news". I'm going to have to accept their ruling.

Oden out again for tomorrow's game against MIN. I listened to an interview today with Jason Quick and it's not clear who is holding him out. He said McMillan gets really irritated talking about it, but no one knows if it's Oden holding himself out or the organization just being overly careful and taking him along slowly.

lol at chuck's reflexes. i think the ball was already by him when he flinched
02-27-2009 , 03:00 AM
she had the same PK move I did.. lean left instep shot to the low right corner.

Charles speech is so hilarious.. "11 moclock.. it would be un-president"
02-27-2009 , 03:01 AM
Charles droppin some truth tonight about the Suns, Starchild, and the Cavs.
02-27-2009 , 03:02 AM
occasionally on my pk's i would approach the ball normally, but take the shot w/my inside foot (i.e. shoot off the outside of it)

edit: not optimal, but awesome anyway
02-27-2009 , 03:05 AM
what did Charles say about the Suns? In previous years he has been way off, but my guess is tonight he got it right
02-27-2009 , 03:07 AM
he said no playoffs for phoenix

For added awesomeness when approaching the ball normally, kick it with your left foot crossed behind your right, chipping it in (hopefully that made sense)
Goalies were not happy when I tried that one.

Awesome.

That CLE/HOU game was pretty fun to watch actually. I thought CLE basically shot to expectation. They simply got destroyed by Houston's defense.

I know it's the party-line around here that point-differential is the be-all and end-all metric and that there's no difference between being the MVP against the league and being the MVP against good teams, but I don't think you're right. Furthermore, the reasoning is quite basic: if you can change the distribution of shot-type and players have different skill profiles, it is possible that one player is more valuable in one context and less in another.

I was really looking forward to this game, because at this point, I want to see as much of LBJ playing against elite defenses as I can. He was destroyed by the Spurs in 07. He was destroyed by the C's in 08. His only real triumph is against Detroit in 07, but he hasn't shown any ability to sustain that level of shooting, or anywhere remotely close.

When I transfer my software over to using ESPN.com play-by-plays, I'll be able to get some better shot-chart data, and I think it will be possible to do some interesting experiments with varying matchups.

Let's just put it this way: as someone who had CLE tonight, and bet CLE to win the title very early in the season, I don't feel all that good about either bet right now.

Also, I don't care what the numbers say, CLE does not play elite defense. They are somewhere in between the Lakers and the elites.

Would that even count for him?

Keep you crazy politics out of this thread, or you get more of my pinko stylings.

I'm not sure I've ever laughed harder than the scene at the doctors office in the book.

Oh yeah I never did this in a game, mostly because our team rarely got the ball in the opponent's penalty box, much less in a position warranting a penalty kick.
We were like 0-40 over a couple seasons to open the high school's history.
