Though I will admit, Buffalo should get an honorable mention, even if they don't have all the major sports. It must suck balls to be a Buffalo fan.
Plus you need to live buffalo/cleveland

I can't wait for the Browns to draft Tebow so they can swallow up his divine zealotry and turn him into a symbol of moral depravity.

Vancouver imo. We're so bad we'll take the Grizzlys and be extremely happy.

LOL, I told my cousin the exact same thing. But it was more that drafting Tebow would be awesome just to see him lose 10+ times per year.

They have the Cleveland City Stars in the USL-1 league, which ended the year as the worst team in the USL-1.

i think cleveland is the winner, but you could make a case for washington and minnesota.

minnesota hasn't been lolbad or anything, but no championships since the early nineties and that team almost got contracted(twins). losing the lakers too btw

Yeah, but I don't think this is hardly a case. Chiefs were winningest team of the 90's. Royals had a championship in the 80's. There are other cities with worse records.

My vote is Buffalo now that Philly won something. Cleveland and Minny have an argument.

Don't know how we'd classify Cincinnati since it only has two major sports teams, but if you're going solely off of success, they've got to be up there.

Reds haven't won a WS since 1990, have had just two winning seasons in the last 14 years and haven't been to the playoffs in just as much time.

Of course we all know the success the Bengals have experienced. One winning season and playoff appearance in the last 18 years, two Super Bowl losses, a cheap ass owner who won't spend the necessary $$$ to make the team consistently competitive, etc.

However since they don't have more major sports teams to **** things up, I'd have to go w/ the consensus and say Cleveland.

Buffalo, NY aninec

Sabres... Stanley Cup.

Bills... Super Bowl.

University at Buffalo... D1 Football Championship.

Can these pairings be any more unrealistic? Buffalo needs a championship so bad ly it hurts. Not to mention it's one of the poorest cities and only Detroit is more segregated

Don't feel like going back in this thread to read the earlier posts to see what was already said.

My rating for 'worst sports city' might go more with crappy fans and enthusiasm than with lousy teams. Miami kind of rates up there in that department. Solid fan-base and following for the Dolphins but just so little interest in their other 3 major sports teams. When you're team can draw 50k fans to a baseball game and have 45k cheering for the VISITING team which actually can happen there then you know something really sucks about that place. Who gives a crap about 2 World Series titles if there is so much apathy surrounding it.

I would take Cleveland in a heartbeat as a sportstown over Miami. In fact, that is one reason why I would prefer to live in Cleveland or Buffalo than Miami (seriously)....because the people there actually care about their sports teams and cheer for them. Buffalo fans are just wacky for their Bills and Sabres and that kind of passion just can't be had in a place like Miami. I think people in Buffalo may kind of take it for granted in a way because they just don't know of the kind of apathy that can exist in other places.

I lived in Memphis for a few years and it just blew me away how little SO MANY of the people there cared about their only major league team. Even when they were good nobody gave a damn and I just couldn't understand why. You would think that with only ONE major league team people would rally around them..especially over the 3 year stretch when they were solid.

Victor - Except that it wasn't a group of Browns fans but merely a group of people claiming to be Browns fans.

WTF at those idiots. How is that even possible?

I've cheered for the Bengals for as long as I can remember and that's included a LOT of 4-12 teams in there.

Gotta disagree there. Making your home stadium an intimidating place for opponents to visit is the 'right' type of support. If you have fans that fill a stadium through the bad times as well as the good, and cheer and encourage their players even when they're not so good - then they're great fans.

Seems like most are ignoring major college sports which are somewhat significant in some cities and areas.

Somebody from Cincinnati is pretty likely to cheer for UC or Xavier for example as well as the Reds and Bengals.

Other major cities have some significant college teams kind of in their market but in a different town such as San Antonio and Austin or Detroit and Ann Arbor. Obviously that's a bit tougher to define when it's not in the same city though and is just in the same mostly general market.

Detroit must be terrible. When's the last time the Tigers or Lions won anything? The Pistons last won when? Only the Red Wings have a tradition of winning. But who cares about hockey?

I'm guessing the large Red Wing's fanbase in and around the city of Detroit.

Bengals were in the Super Bowl in 88 as well. It's not even close. If I can remember a team winning a championship, their city is immediately disqualified.
