you're certainly entitled to your opinion and this thread is mostly a discussion of personal preferences, but in terms of free kicks specifically I don't think it's close

Their conversion rates on free kicks are similar, but Messi's is probably a bit better (depends where you look), particularly if you exclude Ronaldo's goals in his earlier career in an inferior league.

I'm choosing to ignore the 10-year rule also. Maybe it's b/c I'm older or not into sports as much, but in the last 10 years I've only really watched teams I like and games I wagered on.

My favorite athletes to watch all-time are Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, Dennis Rodman, Allen Iverson, and Roy Jones Jr.
