I think Tiger Woods is the answer if we asked 10-20 years ago. 10 years ago we just barely get 2007 PGA championship, and the 2008 one leg US Open. 10-20 years ago was prime Tiger.

The reason Tiger is a valid answer is because nobody had ever seen anyone dominate the sport the way he was at his peak, it was surreal.

So even though golf itself isn't particularly entertaining, the circuses his performances were causing were.

yeah there's a bit of a paradox I guess. literally every sports fan I know remembers tigers chip on 16. I guess more people watched bortles/Whitehurst though

I would tune in to watch a QB or RB play before a WR, a WR might be more athletic but they are only catching 6-7 balls on average. A QB is throwing the ball 30+ times, and watching an elite QB play is very exciting. Randy Moss or TO are probably the only WR I would tune in to watch.

Tiger was very exciting to watch play also, his shots were flat out amazing.

MLB pitchers we get to see more of but Bonds was such a beast and as dominant as a player could be.

I don't know how people don't think Lebron is exciting, it was only like 6 months ago he had probably the greatest Finals performance ever. We don't have to go back 6-7 years, we just go back 6-7 months.

Bolt entered 9 races in the Olympics and won gold 9 times. can't get more dominant than that.

you can argue that Phelps accomplished more, but dominance? no way.

If Phelps only picked races he was the favorite in, he'd have been perfect and would've won more than 9 golds too.
