I'm taking Darrell Armstrong because he fills a few holes that I have with my current roster. With Jeff Hornacek being my starting PG, I feel that taking a true PG is pretty important at this point despite the relative depth still available at the position. I decided to go with Darrell Armstrong because he was very good on the break, and very good on defense. His defense is most important to me because I didn't that player who can guard "little guys" like chris Paul and AI. As a bonus, DA's relatively late start and late finish line up well with my team as Hornacek and Laimbeer have all played into their late 30s.
Having Darrell Armstrong in my lineup gives me the opportunity to create more mismatches on offense, and makes it very difficult for a team to do the same to me. With 3 6'11" guys of varying body types, I can have a lineup on the floor that will be able to defend most teams, and on offense I can go small or big depending on who my opponent puts out there.
I also like Darrell's production. His career 16+ PER is pretty good considering his relatively low usage, and the fact that he rebounds well for his position will hopefully make up for Stephen Jackson's shortcomings in that department. He was also an excellent FT shooter, to already add to my already excellent FT shooting team.
Strengths - Defense, hustle, fast breaks, rebounding, health.
Weaknesses - Low 3pt %, late start, TO's
My team so far:
Jeff Hornacek
Bobby Phills
Mike Miller
Kevin Garnett
Bill Laimbeer
