I’m just telling you what the ufc said . They’ve been going quickly in between fights tho tonight

if both these fights go the distance it isnt happening before 1245

most cards w/ 3 title fights dont have 2 womens title fights which are more likely to go 5rds

edit: ok good that ended fast

That's a pretty normal start time on these type of cards. Certainly, my expectation would be 12:30 EST or later. In recent years UFC had added more movie previews and such that have pushed fights even later.

Just saw that video of Weidman's leg breaking - brutal - I assume it wasn't really just one kick that did it, but a build-up of thousand of kicks before that weakened his bones.

Will we see a round 3 on the main card?

It was actually one kick, that's part of what made it so weird. Unless you mean training.

Rose Namajunas is about to be banned on China's internet after that one.

have they always broadcast this late?

was thinking it may have something to do with wanting to catch both markets as it's noon on sunday in china right now

Yes, PPVs have started at 10pm EST for the last 15+ years at least. All PPV main cards have 5 fights. Most just have one 5 round fight though, not 3.

It's a moot point though. This **** is starting early as hell.

Usman is a monster!!!

I wish GSP would come back to challenge Usman, i think he's too cautious to take the fight but i'd love to see it.

Good card for people who love crappy fights with devastating violence

Yeah, wouldn't happen because Usman is not a big enough draw (although, tonight should help him in that regard). You'd be asking GSP to risk his legacy for non life changing money when he has been out of the game for so long and is well out of his prime and with the understanding that the game has advanced a lot since he was WW Champion.

With a Khabib fight, GSP would have made a lot more money and he could have actually added to his legacy by winning a belt from a 3rd weight class.

So what happened to Masvidal's "I can beat Nate Diaz" championship
The MMA Thread Quote

He keeps that belt as he is the only person that's proven to be able to beat either of the Diaz brothers in the last 4+ years.

GSP is still in amazing shape and i have no doubt that he crushes everybody he trains in in the gym. GSP is also a guy who had every skill in the book and the game hasn't even caught up to him yet, he retired at 32 because Hendricks was on roids and he knew it.

I guess Covington is next but tbh i think Usman finishes him earlier.

If GSP doesn't come back then the only competitive potential matchup is going to be Khamzat if he get over covid and get back into the picture.

Usman and Covington would destroy Hendricks whether he was on roids or not. The game has advanced significantly. I was actually using GSP's own words that he spoke this week regarding the fighters getting better:

And practice is practice and a fight is a fight. Anthony Smith just trained with Chris Weidman and said that Chris Weidman is the best fighter he's ever practiced with. Weidman is an all time great but he has lost 6 of his last 8 fights by KO/TKO. Father time has caught up to him in a big way. GSP didn't look like he was at his best 7 years ago vs Hendricks nor 3 years ago against Bisping. He's now 39 years old.

Fighters go up and then they come down. Fedor was seemingly invincible in his prime. So was Anderson Silva. GSP avoided the inevitable decline by retiring close to his prime.

It could be, could also be due to not kicking enough.

You can regrow your bone stronger and more dense with repetitive impact, the stress fractures act just like muscle tears and your body will regrow the bone stronger.

But you’re right, if he did have stress fractures and didn’t let them heal (bone regrowth takes months), it could have caused it as well.

Was hard for me to watch these leg injuries, woof

Usman vs khabib. Who wins? Would khabib be able to Take/hold Usman down With Usmans size advantage?

These MMA guys train by kicking soft pads so they don't really strengthen the bone. Muay Thai guys in Thailand strengthen shin bones by kicking hard stuff like trees / bamboo and building micro-fractures so their shins become hard like diamond.

It's actually surprising the MMA guys don't break their leg bones more often.
