I guess he's more confident in keeping the position by just doing slightly weak ground and pound?
In order to be choked out, Henderson has to turn his back to Shields. Henderson basically never turned his back and just accepted the punishment from mount because Shields doesn't hit too hard. If he had turned his back he probably would have been choked out.

In fairness, I'm drunk right now and I could be wrong, but I see Mayhem running his mouth and then getting jacked by several dudes.
Mayhem got in the ring very quickly, for a reason -- Strikeforce wanted him in there. Then people lost their **** and an ugly incident happened.
I fail to see how this is Mayhem's fault at all, like even 1%.
Mayhem shouldn't have barged in like a giant douche. Him doing that started the chain of events that caused the brawl. Even if they told him to go in there, you don't interrupt the guy's interview in front of his entire team, who are known for being ill-tempered idiots. You wait until they call you for a proper faceoff, doing what he did was stupid. Mayhem is absolutely at least partially at fault.
Obviously the gang-jumping and pounding afterwards by the diaz bros was the worst offense. Basically assault. But mayhem's idiocy played a role.
