Just read his wiki. Aside from the betting stuff, what I found most interesting, is that in his time he was considered the best defensive player, not just first baseman. But then we learn he averaged ~40 errors a year at ****ing first base, and later analysis credits him with 65 more runs allowed vs replacement 1B. How could present (early 1900s) perception of him been Platinum Glover?
