Is there a website that lists the players with the highest WAR in a spreadsheet or something like that?

the other thing is that in a team game with an element of variance they put way to much emphasis on rings. Like everyone who doesnt have a ring isnt a winner, even if they have good playoff stats.

i think jeters 3000th toke some of the buzz away, probably once he hits a couple more home runs people will focus on it more. Also weve seen a decline in caring about home runs in general as we get farther into the steriod era, i remember thinking there wasnt as much buzz surrounding a-rods 600th either.

Thome's numbers are pretty sick. His career wRC+ is in the top 50 all time and he's been going at it for 20 years (~16 full seasons).

"I don't like it," he said of being benched. "If I did then I'd probably quit. That's just being a competitor. Obviously, this is a rough patch. I understand completely. It is what it is. The numbers are telling what I'm hitting."
He paused and got that impish look in his eyes.
"But we can't win without me, it seems like," he said, as the area around his locker exploded with laughter

Twins wore green caps for earth day today. They should wear pink caps for the rest of the season to commemorate the effort they gave this afternoon.

To be fair, it was 105+ degrees outside, but it was also David Huff on 3 days rest and the most important game of the season to date.

I don't care about steroids, Thome is a beast. But saying players like him surely did or did not juice is kind of dumb imo. Anyone who played in Cleveland in the mid-90s with Belle, Manny and David Segui has to be a bit suspect, no? It drives me nuts when Tom Hamilton goes down the all-time HR list crossing off the "known" juicers in an attempt to elevate Thome.
