Pre arb award winners

Tim Lincecum back in 2008. He won the Cy Young and received a $245,000 raise

Kris Bryant received a $398,000 raise the year after winning MVP during his pre-arbitration years.
And not just because, it's because a work stoppage is coming.

yeah if they wanted to they could

maybe they feel like he's gone anyway but if they want a chance to resign him they need all the goodwill they can get. a few hundred K is a small price to pay for an extension that buys out a few free agency years down the line

I guess it doesn't matter, Rays will probably trade Snell in first year of arbitration, which hopefully results in the owners forcing the franchise to move to Montreal or Monterrey.

It's the Rays, they're going to trade him a year before FA anyway so it's not going to be an issue.

Absolutely he could. Seems like an awesome gig too. Die hard fans who are almost always overwhelmingly positive towards their team. Get to live in Japan for half the year. The Hawks just signed their foreign closer Dennis Sarfate to a 3 year extension worth about 6m USD per year.

I lived in Hiroshima for a few years, and the #2 starter for the team after Kenta Maeda was some dude named Kris Johnson making 3mil a year.

I feel like no, he can't legally pitch in Japan unless the Rays allow it/release him, etc. But I could be wrong.

If I were Blake Snell, I’d work hard, buy myself a baseball team, then give out all the raises he wants. He’s gonna make 30 million a year, in a few years, I think he’ll be ok.

Rays would have to release him, at which point he'd be a free agent and could sign with any team stateside for way more than what he'd get in Japan.

He would be able to make more in Japan this year (if allowed), but his career MLB earnings starting next year when he hits arbitration are going to dwarf anything he could make over there.

The highest paid Japanese league player is making about 5 million usd per year.

I bet Cubs under at 92.5 and the line is now at 87.5... should I be looking to bet the over? 5 win middle seems pretty enticing.

I definitely would. Seems likely they often finish with 88-92 wins this year.

The Astros top 2 pitching prospects have been suspended for 80 games in the past year for illegal substances PEDs, not weed. Whitley and now Martes.

Interesting how veteran pitchers seem to have a career resurgence when they move to the Astros. I think Trevor Bauer might have something to say about this.

Hoping to get some MVP and CYA odds soon.

I’m interested in wagering on Acuna, Soto, Bregman, Bauer.

We're down to a single trade deadline, July 31st. Also, next year the 15 day DL will make its triumphant return!

Major League Baseball will rename the disabled list as the "injured list," the league confirmed Thursday.

The league will make the change out of concern that the term "disabled" for injured players falsely conflates disabilities with injuries and an inability to participate in sports.
