5 years, $82.5 million.

They have Sabathia, Wang, Joba, and Hughes already, its so stupid to sign Burnett for 82m when you can choose from Petite, Lowe, and Sheets.

I agree. Burnett is like the worst option out of all of them considering his contract demands. Sheets has to be the best.

If healthy, that Yankee rotation is pretty disgustingly awesome.

In fairness the Yanks could have gotten the impression that Sheets/Lowe/RJ just don't want to go to NY, so they basically only had 1 option.(note: this is all theoretical obv)

I think we overestimate just who is actually available for each team. It's not a video game, these guys actually have feelings and if they don't want to play in NY there really isn't much you can do about it.(besides stuff like 3 years 161m ldo)

Cubbies are interested in Bradley according to ESPN.

hey at least we're not the Orioles!

I think Sox > Rays, especially if Sox add Teix.

Rays will still probably get another bat, not to mention even more youth coming up this year. And lol I thought you said Tek at 1st

Maybe Reid Brignac will stop eating dicks down in AAA. Regardless, with Price in the rotation and like 2-3 others ready to step up out of Hellickson, Niemann, Davis, and McGee, the Rays will see a big impact from their young pitchers.

Yeah, I don't know why you want to block your good SP prospects with long-term contracts. Sheets would be awesome, because the rumor is that you can get him for 2 years. Personally, I wouldn't want to give Burnett 5 years with other options out there. I guess Cashman is hoping that 3/5 years will be awesome, and anything else is a bonus. Damn yankees.

Edit: Sheets 2/25-30 >> Burnett 5/82

Yeah, I don't think anyone will disagree with that. But keep in mind, the Yankees have access to medical records and we don't. Maybe Sheets' elbow is worse than we think.

I'm not sure why we think Burnett's arm is any healthier.

Also, I highly HIGHLY doubt that Brian Cashman is getting to make these decisions.

Well I don't think it is. I'm just saying Cashman has way more information available than we do.

And yeah, there's also the owner factor. It wouldn't exactly be a shock if the only times Hank saw Burnett pitch in his life were the five games against the Yankees this year when he dominated.

I'm prety sure a cap would either hugely **** over all of MLB OR help the Yankees even more. If you're playing in a league that caps the salary you can earn, you are going to seek out locations that can earn you even more money.

Nothing would change.

Advertising dollars in NYC/LA vs... Milwaukee?
