I agree that sucks for a really good team, but NL team wins are inflated. Look at how many terrible NL teams there are with 90+ losses.

Not to mention they have nobody to blame but themselves. They only win 1 of the 2 games they lost at home to the cards a week ago and they're playing the makeup game for the NL central

It's kinda amazing when you think about it. Williams was a manager for 2 years and in the first year won 96 games, the NL East and manager of the year. In his 2nd year they still finished above .500, have the NL MVP and a top 5 pitcher who threw 2 no hitters

And he's fired

How bad do you have to be at your job in the MLB of all places to not get a 3rd year at manager under those conditions

I don't have any experience with alcoholism, but it seems weird to miss the playoffs. Like can't you just get a chaperone or sponsor or something to help you through the next month (and probably just the next week)?
