lol u if u think that any pitcher on the reds has the ability to aim a pitch well enough to hit a batter

Barnhart sets up inside, follows the pitch all the way to Cutch, and even reaches out behind him as if attempting to catch the ball. If it was intentional, you may expect the catcher to set up down the middle, not move and make no effort to catch a beanball; as Cervelli did.

this is LOL pirates more than anything else. You guys are cards-level of fools. LOL PITTSBURGH. Nice rape quarterback

Nice 4-9 record against the reds this season, lmfao

Beat: I recorded it all but my phone overheated and shut off.

Just watched the replay of all this. Umpire handled that terribly. Lost control of the game.

to be fair, Martin set up on the inside (i.e. left from catcher's view) side of the plate and had to come back across his body, catching it while his arm was flailing away. In real time I remember thinking "that looked OK" but certainly was surprised that it was down the middle.

My sentiments exactly. Don't think the first HBP was intentional, the Tulo one looked completely unintentional and he was leaning in, but they were just throwing at Donaldson the whole time.

Can't tell if he warned them after Donaldson was hit or after they started yelling at each other. I would've waited until Donaldson almost got hit again and then warned everyone. Should've insta thrown out Madson after he almost hit Donaldson, and that's the end of it.

McCutchen has now been hit 7 times by the Reds in the last 3 years.

What does that even mean.... that Barnhart follows the pitch to Cutch? That means it wasn't intentional? lol

Maybe the Pirates have had enough of watching the star players get beaned over and over cause HERP INTIMIDATION DERP PLUNK CUTCH. It's bull****.

(btw as an aside how idiotic was it that Watson wasn't ejected? That was lolbad)

Bringing up Big Rape is cute too. The Bengals play in Cincinnati right? Next time I have 30 hours to spare I'll go through the laundry list of criminal activity by those clowns and point those out.

In the meantime, go enjoy a heaping plate of Skyline Slurry and these teams will meet again at the end of season; Pirates will hopefully be winning the division, Reds will be going for win #70.... sadly it will be uneventful.

My little boy said the other day, "I want to be the man in a baseball game who says when someone hits a foul ball."

I told him if he makes it to the big leagues, he'll have plenty of job security.

Both batters hit today were intentional. It's pretty obvious. He was literally trying to hit McCutchen in the exact spot where Byrd got hit last night, and he only missed and hit his back because McCutchen moved.

Not every intentionally hit batter is done by throwing a fastball on the first pitch in the most obvious manner.

The reds catcher makes an effort to catch the ball. Usually when a catcher calls to hit a batter they don't make an effort to catch the ball. Look at the video and you'll see the difference between Villarreal and Watson's pitches. Cervelli makes no effort what so ever, the guy is a complete assclown.

Also villareal is a ****ing terrible pitcher with no control whatsoever. It was the second time he faced mccutchen too, pointing even more towards the fact that it was accidental. And did I mention villareal had no ****ing control?

Melancon shouldn't have been ejected obviously, but Watson's HBP was probably the only intentional one of both two days, so he should have def been ejected.

Also here's a fun stat, the pirates have led the league in hit batters every year for the past 3 years, by a decent margin.

I only brought up the Steelers cuz I assumed all pirates fans were Steelers fans

Mccutchens HBP was 99.9% intentional, unfortunately no way to prove it. I do believe there were two outs and an open base, which makes it pretty clear.
