Would be pretty sick if the Lakers caught Houston and Golden State for the 6 seed so they could play the Clippers in the first round. That would be the most intense first round series ever for sure. Although I guess you could say the same thing about Lakers/Thunder or Lakers/Spurs.

The Clippers would be pretty big favorites to beat the Lakers if they met but no way the Clippers sweep the Lakers if Pau returns and is playing well.

With that said the Clippers are amazingly deep. If Lamar ever got close to right (by right I mean playing the way he did during the 2010/11 sixth man of the year season) that team would be nearly unstoppable by everyone except maybe the Heat.

Apparently you didn't notice the name of the thread? Now that the lolakers have finally decided to play halfway-decent, all of the fans who were too embarassed to show themselves have scurried back into the light. I wonder if the Heat, Spurs or Thunder would be thumping their chests after beating the 21-40 Pelicans and 24-38 Raptors? If the Lakers were 30 games over .500, like those teams are, Laker fans would be wondering "How are we only beating these ****ty teams by a few points?" But no, now the fans sit here an circle-jerk about being a slight favorite to make the playoffs. That's the perfect example of "lol lakers".

The rest of us aren't worried. The lols will be back when they either choke their way out of the playoffs, or get smoked in the first round.

Perhaps you didn't see my post in TZ? I openly admitted the Lakers aren't likely going anywhere this year even if they make the playoffs. It has nothing to do with them lacking the talent to be a successful team and everything to do with the fact they just can't stay healthy and have zero clue how slow even a little the better pg's around the league.

And no this isn't a hedge. Admittedly, I was too depressed about the Lakers' poor play to go toe to toe all year in here with the haters. Luckily Cald and JMill have held down the fort quite nicely. Far better than I could have under the circumstances.

The realist in me thinks this:
Even if the Lakers do squeak into that last playoff spot I agree they'll likely get swept or maybe win one game if they're lucky. A game where they shoot 15 more ft's than their opponent or whatever. A David Stern special I like to call it. Their problem is they just don't match up well at all with teams that have great PG's and the top 3 teams in the West all have great PGs and should the Lakers make the playoffs they're 100% going to be forced to play one of those three teams in the first round.

The irrational Lakers fan in me leans more towards this:
Perhaps if Dwight's body makes significant improvement over the next month, very unlikely, and Pau returns from his foot issue playing like he did during the Summer of 2012 the Lakers have a shot to do some damage come playoff time.

In the meantime Kobe is ballin' out of his mind and even though the Lakers still aren't a very good team I'm having a great time watching Mamba Mania. That's what it's all about anyway isn't it, enjoying ourselves? Basketball has become fun again so I'm here "pounding my chest" and doing the best I can to accept and enjoy the reality that is the Lakers trying desperately to snatch that final playoff spot.

oh so expectations coming in were finishing 6th-8th in the West and maybe getting an upset to win a round was a season? lulz

this was a DREAM TEAM that was gonna take down the Thunder & Heat, so yeah, still lol lakers!

Definitely a disappointing season for the Lakers but let's not act like injuries haven't at least played a part in the Lakers' struggles to this point.

Dwight less than 100% recovered from back surgery + torn labrum
Nash missing 24 games due to a broke bone in leg
Pau now out for more than a month with a bad foot
Jordan Hill only playing 29 games before season ending injury to hip
Steve Blake missing 27 games due to pectoral injury

That's quite a few lost games from key players.

Actually when they won back to backs they pulled this **** routinely.
